For those who are thinking about a holiday wedding
I know we don't usually think about these things - but my parents and some other family members (I don't know the couple - very distant relatives) are getting married on the 4th of July. They are having a ceremony in Staten Island then the reception 4 HOURS later in New Jersey. My family has spoken to the couples parents who say many people are not coming - b/c almost all the guests are traveling from either LI or out of state and they felt that 4 hours between and the distance with holiday traffic makes it virtually impossible for them to go - and apparently there is nothing to do around the reception place for them to go and wait. So for people to go they will have to either drive home and wait to then drive to Jersey or they will have to go out there and find a place to sit for about 2-3 hours depending on traffic.
So II guess I just want to say if you have a long drive and a long wait please think of something for your guests to do or give them suggestions for a place to go while they wait. I think we all get so wrapped up in planning that we forgot about our guests

If I was invited to that wedding I would skip the ceremony
