Friends of ours didn't have video and she regrets it. At the time she rather save money but in the long run she wishes she had it so she could look back on it and relive her wedding day

Re: For those who did NOT have a video
I've actually become kind of excited about not having professional video footage. It will be nice to have kind of the indie-style, shaky, unedited hand-cam footage- something will be more real and raw about that.
Once all of it is over and done with, it will be less the sugar coated, cut and pasted ordeal that I'll want to reflect on, but rather a real, slightly flawed, more sentimental record preserving the actual day. More representative of life, I think.
But we are definitely having a friend or family member tape it. I couldn't go without any kind of video. I don't want to forget the whole day over the years or not have anything to show my someday kids.
That's just my opinion, I guess.

Re: For those who did NOT have a video
if you can swing the money i just say get one - so what if it sits in a drawer 20 years - one day, someone will want to see it - whether its kids, your grandkids, your neice, your nephew, somebody will get chills watching it....thats how i feel, i wish my grandparents and parents had video of their day, its so much more real than photos - thats jmo though....

Re: For those who did NOT have a video
I'm not married yet but I was on the fence regarding the video thing as well. After talking to friends who had been married and had no video, they said they wished they at least had coverage of their ceremony and vows. in the end I decided to go with video, and as the day is fast approaching, I'm totally glad I will have it. I just look forward to showing it to my kids someday, I think that will be really special.

Re: For those who did NOT have a video
My brother did not have a videographer at his wedding a few weeks ago. My uncle taped the ceremony and took a lot of pictures. Then, he stayed up all night and surprised my brother and sister in law the following day with a slideshow video of their wedding. My cousins never watch their videos. We only got a videographer b/c the photographer we wanted requires us to book with her husband for videography. Otherwise, we wouldn't have done it. In addition, my uncle said he would make me a slideshow, too. So i am going to have tons of evidence of all embarassing moments that day, lol!

Re: For those who did NOT have a video
It never even crossed my mind to leave out video. I have a friend who watches her mothers wedding video every year on the anniversary of her death. It's a way to see her personality and my friend's daughter can see her grandmother for who she was before she was sick. It's an heirloom and I would give up flowers all together before giving up video. JMO...good luck!

You know, this really makes sense. It made me think about the videos that I watch from when i was little and dancing around and the camera all shaky, lol...and I have my grandmother there who passed away 7 years ago and my grandfather who is so sick now. Now Im crying, lol, Anyway, thank you for this great point.

Re: For those who did NOT have a video
i just met with my viseographer tonight and told him about this post...
he said that there have been studies done, with brides about 10 years after their wedding and they ask what they regret and 90% of them said they regret not having video.
you think you don't need it now.. but what about 25 years from now... don't you want your kids to see their great grandparents?
i am just tryin gto save you from a huge mistake!!!
