How many months before the wedding are you going to look for a place to live if you plan to own?
FH and I looked at a house on Sunday with FH's Best man. I liked the house but it needs a lot of work. FH thinks that we will wait until the summer time to seriously look.

We're going to start looking mroe seriously this summer, right now we rent a 3 bedroom house which my dad and stepmom own so they cut us a break on rent...
we started looking a while ago but have been looking seriously since january...we found something in feb and then the lady decided not to sell...we have since had our offer accepted on another coop a month ago but have yet to sign a contract. so it can take a while between finding something and actually getting to closing....we are thinking closing wont be until the end of aug or sept.

We looked for a bit a year ago but then we decided that we needed more money and needed to get the proper resources for us so we never have to end up in foreclosure or something.
FH and I make too much combined to do this so FH did it alone, but the CDC in Centereach is a great 5 month class that is one time a month and teaches you about home buying, closing, lawyers etc. They check your credit score, do everything. I can't say enough about them. Now, FH is done with the course and he gets a grant from Bank of America, gets 3% towards closing. We have been hitting the ground hard looking for a house with the help of our realtor but it's still hard bc our price range is soooo low. Short sales are a pain in the butt and we don't want to start with them. I hope this helps!
fhs mother is buying us a house. so as soon as she gets her a$$ moving we will be in. i really want it before my shower in oct. so i will have some place to put the stuff.
We're living at my house for awhile after the wedding while we get some money and house hunt.
