? for those who made their invites or are in the process...was it worth it?

Original post by nicopico13

I'm kind of back and forth about making my own invites. I have time, and I've looked at a couple sites, but I just don't know if I would really be saving money. Did they really save you money in the long run and would you do it again if you had to? TIA

I am making ours....
1. I got a great price on the stock - less than $50 for invites, inserts, envelopes and I still have enough for favor tags, place cards and programs.
2. I was able to make the invites the size I wanted by making the pocketfolds myself.
3. I had a lot of fun designing them with my BM who is on pregnancy induced bed rest.

That being said: They are not coming EXACTLY they way I wanted and I wish I had done more trials before I printed everything out, but for the price I paid: they aren't bad.

we did our own, really my mom, FMIL and I did them together (they did all the assembly b/c they are awesome!), and it ended up costing about $300....yes we could have ordered invites for that much, but not ones that I liked! So I think we did save...I wanted at least some backing and a classy and a little modern design, and anything like that that I liked was at least in the $500s....and I think my mom and FMIL enjoyed doing it together also....!

Depends on the person. I think if you're asking....you're more like me.

I thought it was too much effort to assemble the ones I BOUGHT especially because I had to stick on ribbons to each card!

Yes! We got tracing paper at Michaels and printed the picture on the paper. The picture is one of our favorite paintings.:)

I definately think we saved money...we made our pocketfolds for under 3.00 a piece which is very difficult to do with a lot of pocketfold invites...it took time to do but was so worth it...pics are in my album

We made ours..pic in my review!!! We would do it again if we had to, and from now on we are doing every invitation on our own. We had a victorian theme and we wanted it to be simple...we actually got alot more compliments on them then we thought we were going to get...and when we told everyone we did them ourselves people were shocked!!! Its def worth it!!! We went to a place who wanted 1100 bucks for the same exact invitation!!! We did it for 40 bucks!!! Now the only thing is....we have family members calling us all the time...having us do their invitationd and cards!!!
