YES YES YES...BUT we took pics seperate before the ceremony...so we actually did not see each other until I walked down the aisle. I would NOT change that...it was GREAT!

We took me with my family, BP, etc. him with his family, BP, etc. Then after the ceremony we took together pics.

The WM & our DOC were great in this...keep us apart! Others said it couldn't be done! HA! It was fabulous!

I am SO happy we did our pictures before. We were able to enjoy the cocktail hour and start smoozing with our guest!! I think it is a great idea.

FH and I are going to do this. I don't buy the bad luck thing, mostly because from what I know it's from arranged marriage days when they only wanted the couple see each other after it was too late! FH and I insist on being there for CH- as matter of fact we may even take some pics before dinner so we can have the whole CH to eat and mingle....CH is my fave part!!

If FH and I didn't have time issues with a 10 am ceremony and Feb making outdoor shots minimal-if at all- we might have gone with tradition...

Most brides I talk to are glad they took pics before or wish they had...

I would so do it again, our ceremony was at 1 teh photographer started pics at 10 with me, then set up a 'moment' for me and DH to first see each other. We missed a little of cocktail hour doing the two of us, but at least our families and bridal party didnt. It only took so long because we had 3 families to deal with.

I would definitely recommend doing this. We were able to get all our pics out of the way and enjoy our CH and say hello to all our guest so that we could enjoy our reception. We enjoyed and celebrated every minute of our wedding.

I'm glad we did this, although we were running a little late and so we still had to take some pictures during the CH, but we got to go to at least 1/2 of the CH

I plan on doing this too -- we have an 11:30 ceremony at the catering hall, which means an EARLY DAY for all. Plus we want to be at our cocktail hour!

I'm very glad we did, and I would not go back and change that (although I would change the photographer! )

I'm really glad we did this. We saw each other beforehand and, to be honest, I was worried that it wouldn't feel as 'special' when I walked down the aisle. But it still did! It was still a really emotional and special moment for both of us.

ETA: I see that you're having your ceremony at the reception hall - which is what we did too. One tip for the rehearsal - ours was a little bit before the actual ceremony - don't walk down the aisle during the same-day rehearsal. I just sat in the back and supervised

Am I the only one who took pics before, but didn't see DH before the ceremony? Wow!

Re: For those who took pics before the ceremony...

I just got married on Friday, and one of the BEST decisions we made was seeing each other before the ceremony.

The Maitre D and photographer coordinated it at the hall to make sure we didn't run into each other ahead of time, and then we were photographer and videotaped (we were alone besides them). I tapped him on the shoulder and his back was to me.

What a special memory I have now...it was an incredible moment. Besides, I could barely see him when I was walking down the aisle (we had a big bridal party) so I got to see his immediate reaction.

Good luck in whatever you choose to do!

I'm doing pictures before the ceremony too. At first I was hesistant but there are a lot of advantages. You enjoy your cocktail hour, you are not rushed to finish the photos in one hour and since it is nice and early your hair and make up still look their best.

Definitely 100% YES!!! We took pics beforehand and it was so nice to get it all out of the way. We started pictures at 8:00 a.m. and were done by about 10:00. I'm so glad they were all done before everyone arrived and before all the excitement. After the ceremony, i can't imagine having to sit still and pose for all those pictures, i was sooo wound up and excited that i never could've done that!

As for seeing him beforehand.. neither of us had any issues with that. The first time he saw me, it was like 'hi, you look great' and that was it.
Didn't diminish the love in his eyes and the way we looked at each other when i was walking down the aisle one bit
I highly recommend doing it if you can. It will leave you with time to really enjoy you CH and get a chance to talk to people so you can enjoy your reception.
I can honestly say we enjoyed our reception just as much, probably more than anyone else because we didn't have to spend it going around 'having' to talk to people. We had already gotten that out of the way and so people we spoke to during the reception were the ones we really wanted to speak to.

great thread! i've been going back and forth on a church ceremony and getting married at the hall for 2 months and can't make up my mind!!

part of me wants the tradition of a church ceremony but i don't want to stress out about having enough time for pics between. there seems to be so many conveniences to seeing him before......agh!
