For those whos parents paid for the RH...

Original post by Butterfly123

Are you letting them have a choice in the menu?? My step-father is making it seem like he's picking out the menu. I told him we wanted a mainly italian menu but he's talking about spanish food. 90 percent of the guestlist is spanish and eats spanish food EVERYDAY. I wanted a change at the wedding. I dont have a problem with him picking things out little things out for the menu but we want mainly italian. Am I being selfish? Should my parents be able to pick out the whole menu since they paid for the RH?

my parents are paying for the RH and they can make suggestions but I think ultimately its going to be our decision.

Good question cuz right now I am in a power struggle with my father whom I have now coined 'dadzilla'. My parents are paying for most of the wedding and my FIL's are kicking some in (not sure how much) so I basically have no say in anything off the bat, which has made me very but I am learning to give in a bit. My dad booked the hall w/o us- thankfully it is the one we wanted!!! I have had to play this whole planning process very carefully as to not 'cut my nose to spite my face' as my mom says. I have a feeling it will be the 4 of us going to pick out the menu- although I will try to do it w/o my parents lolol.
sorry- didnt mean to go off on a tangent!

IMO it might be nice to give your parents an opportunity to voice their opinion but kindly reminding them it is your day too. that's my approach anyway!

my parents helped in some of the decisions but the entrees are standard
there are 7 so we didnt have to choose
