For those with negative opinions of Chateau La Mer(please read)

I know that there are only a few of us getting married here but before you say anything negative about them....
Please go see them now!!! Taste their food, the place looks awesome, talk to Nick there they are doing so much work. I have only heard complaints from people who have been there years ago and not recently. It is under new ownership, young guys are now in charge and they are working so hard to change their past rep.

I just feel bad for newbies who really like it, and then they come on here and they get their minds changed.

I promise you next year when i get married there i believe i will be getting married at one of the best places on LI.

The doors have been changed, the carpets, everything that people have complained about in the past. Now the entrance is breathtaking with glass doors and chandeliers.

I have been to weddings at some of the most popular places on LI, and not had the best experiences, I guess not every place is perfect right, and people have different tastes.

I dont know I guess i just needed to vent about all the recent things said about CLM I love the place and am fully confident if you went in a month from now when they finish some more construction youd be pleasantly suprised!!!

DH and I went there a few years ago for a bowling dinner at the end of the season. We thought it was very nice. The food was great tooo. So not everyone is negative from a few years ago.

P.S. If it has been a few years, maybe you should not post negative posts. many things can change. They can have a new chef, owners etc. I believe you need to see for yourself.

I've never been there or heard the negative opinions about the place but I am sure it is beautiful and your wedding (as everyone elses there) will be absolutely amazing!!

And I agree with you that even the 'popular' places in LI aren't all that perfect to all guests but hopefully it is perfect for the bride and groom getting married.

Very True!! I had my Engagement Party there in April and everything was excellent!! My guests raved about the food and I was thoroughly impressed with the service. I was very familiar with Chateau La Mer's reputation beforehand and it is true that they have improved substantially. Nick was my banquet manager and he was great...well, except for the hitting on me and my mom part....

I've never been there, don't know much about the place, just wanted to say congratualtions on finding a place you love!

I had my prom there 10+ years ago...and I had a great time...(I know a prom is a little different than a wedding)

Well said Vanessa - Can't agree with you more. Some people have been insensitive with what they have posted about CLM. Alot of the negative posts are complaints from years ago, but things do change and CLM has definately changed for the better. Alot of it is also hearsay. You've got to go see it for yourself to make a judgement. People have different tastes and what I like doesn't mean someone else will like. I have also had bad experiences at some of the popular places on LI, but true not every place is perfect and I would not come on here and put the place down b/c maybe it was just an off night for them!!
The place is amazing and I know, CLM brides, we will not be disappointed on our Wedding Day!!

I have never been the CLM so I cant comment on that, but whether its on this board, talking with people in general, you get a wide range of opinions on different places/vendors. Some rave reviews and others despise the same place/service. I am not saying that its acceptable to trash someones vendors, but I have heard way more good things than bad about my RH, and some people hated it. I would like to believe that more people than not will love it, but I cant make anyones mind up for them. That is OK if someone doesnt like my vendors, I dont take offense to people not liking it, they are entitled to thier opinion just like anyone else. I have never heard of ANY catering hall or vendor anywhere that EVERYONE loved. People have different tastes and opinions (and budgets!) on what they want in thier wedding. A good example that I can think of off the top of my head is the Scotto Brothers places. Some people love them to death, others are not impressed at all by them. I have never attended a wedding at a Scotto Brothers place so I cant make an honest judgement, but it wouldnt stop me from checking it out if I was curious about it. If there were only one good RH, florist, DJ, ect, than there wouldnt be 1000s in business. On the other hand, I appreciate when someone tells me about a not-so-great experience they had with someone I am using, so that I can make sure that it doesnt happen on my wedding day. Thank you all on this board for your honest posts, good or bad.

That's what I have been saying!!! I am not booked at CLM (yet). I have been to 2 weddings there recently and I have said it so many times The place is amazing!!!. THE FOOD AND SERVICE ARE TOP NOTCH!! So many of the other catering halls were less than perfect in the past and now their new owners have made them into something much better. Well, its same at CLM.
Remember there was a place not too long ago in Syossett called Vi**a Vic**R?? But its much better now, right? And how about most of the nice places on Jericho Turnpike? Most of them had less than perfect pasts with other owners, chefs, or managers, but now many people like what they have become. (remembering that all places are not perfect for all of us)
Ladies I am going to be a future CLM bride too ( when FH gets back from abroad) and with absolutely NO DOUBTS about it being perfect because I have been there to see what they do. God luck. Hugs.
