are you the same size in pants now than you, say, were last year there? Last month I got so upset because the regular size I always get was a little tight, so I got a size bigger. The thing that gets me is the pants I have now fit me fine, even pants I have bought from there maybe 2 years ago. Have they made their sizing run smaller? Or am I just gaining weight?

Me too! Maybe we're all getting heavier! OR maybe they are moving away from that whole vanity sizing drama!

probably a mixture of 2 things. Sizes do seem to decrease at times, but also, Is you slowly gain weight, your size slowly stretches out to larger than they were when you bought them.

Good point.

I have this problem with Old Navy pants. I have some 2's that are baggy, some 2's that are way too small, and a 4 that fits perfectly.

Ahh, I stretched out my pants! Well, at least I feel skinny when I wear the pants that are a size up because they fit a little loose.

A lot of it is the style too. I think they make the styles change even when the name is the same--I have a few pairs of the 'Editor' pants, but some legs are more flared than others, some more straight (bought a year or so after the other...).

Well, let me just tell you. My neice was 11 years old and saw a dress at Express that she liked. I bought it for her so she could wear it to my rehearsal dinner.
I told you she was 11 years old, right? Well, she had to get that dress in a size 10. Here is a pic of her: (this is NOT the Express dress, I just want you to see how thin she is!)
Once in awhile I'll buy jeans from Mandee's. I'm a size 7 or 9 when I buy jeans there sometimes. I know that I am not a size 9 though. It doesn't help to be tall either.

I am so happy to hear that I'm not the only one!! I'm definitely a size bigger there and at old navy.

and i am the exact opposite w/ old navy. i stopped shopping there AND ann taylor because the pants don't fit me. i used to wear their 0's or 1's (whatever their smallest size is) and now even the smallest size is too big.
banana republic pants are ALWAYS a great fit.

Re: For Women Who Shop at Express...
I too find that Express sizes are not consistant..I have pants from there that range from size 2-6, depending on the cut.
I dont get discouraged by the sizes anymore, because depending on the store and the style, there is such a wide range, and alot of these places cut thier sizes so small, its ridiculous.

I'm so glad that I'm not the only one who goes through this! I can be anywhere from a size 5/6 to a 10 at both Express and the Gap. Also (and I know this is going to sound crazy!) I bought two pairs of the same exact jeans in different colors from the Limited back in the fall and the darker pair is tighter than the lighter colored.

Yeah I'm anywhere from a 6-10... as well.
Here's my question.. since when did Express get so friggin' EXPENSIVE? Seriously I shopped ther ALL the time in college and I did NOT pay $90 for a pair of pants. Their prices are just off the wall! I go in there and laugh at what they are charging.

So true I use to be able to go in there and buy an outfit for 90$ now I have totally stopped shopping there because they only carry one style pant that does not fit me correctly so what is the point. No more express for me.
and another think why does it look so much like a museum now. the one in nyc.

that happened to me at Old Navy. Two of the same style pants, different colors and I can barely fit into the black ones.
I remember when you could get jeans at Express for 19.99!!! and things were so much cheaper. I can't shop there anymore.
And what did they do to Structure (Express for Men). They used to have nice preppy man clothing, now it's metrosexual euro clothing. It sux!

Acutally funny thing. DH and I were in Sears in the tool dept. and we went upstiars.. and Sears now bought the Structure brand and they sell Structure clothes there now!! Mike was so excited. He bought a few things. It was hysterical b.c we were clothes shopping at Sears- and the Structure clothes were awesome!
