Jenn, start shopping now. You have NO IDEA how hard it is to find 'nice' maternity clothes. I don't like to clothes shop on the internet ( I prefer to try things on), so having a stylish wardrobe was a huge challenge for me.

I now need to buy a dress for a wedding NEXT WEEK, and I'm ripping my hair out.

The thing that's irritating is that they charge soooo much money for some of this stuff.
Bootcut Seven jeans retail for $110
The maternity version? $170!!
I figure when I'm done being pregnant I can take them out and use them on Thanksgiving and Christmas as my comfy eating pants.

JennRenee
I buy everything online. I'm too lazy to go shopping. It does get to be a hassle with returns sometimes but I'll deal with that given the more varied selection I have with online retailers...

The challenge is finding cute stuff that won't break the bank.

Re: For you Stylin Mommies to Be :)

Thats a CUTE outfit ! I agree some clothes are just SOO overpriced in maternity! (Take advantage of a hormonal preggo gal, why dontcha )

Jenn, maybe you can wear a pants outfit?
I think when I was about 35 wks, I wore a pants outfit to a wedding. The top wasnt even maternity, i was just a flowy blouse (macy's) and I wore it with black materity dress pants. It was comfy and dressy... Need black maternity dress pants? You can borrow em! =)

ETA: Susan, tell us !!

Re: For you Stylin Mommies to Be :)

Anna, that's definitely an option. This is a very dressy wedding (or so I've been told... I've never even heard of the place it's at, so I can't judge for myself), but I will be 36 weeks pregnant, and I am DETERMINED not to spend a fortune on an outfit I will only wear once. I actually have black maternity dress pants, so if I can find a great top, I'm in business!

I'm going shopping this week, and my mission is:

Comfy,
Stylish,
INEXPENSIVE!

For the record, the reception is at the Memorare Club. Does anyone know anything about this place??

As dressy as it will be, the 36weeks preggo gal ALWAYS gets away with being a tad more on the comfy side

You can definately dress up black pants Pants are great, so you can pig out and still be fine
or any black dress will do. Black is always elegant!
Happy SHopping!

Re: For you Stylin Mommies to Be :)

Jenn-

Anna's so right about the preggo getting away with something less dressy. I went to a wedding when I was 7 1/2 months preggo (in the summer) and my massive tankles (thighs leading into ankles) were not going to be on display. I wore black pants and a really nice dressier maternity top and it looked fine. Splurging on an updo at a salon will feel fancier too. Comfort is the key for you.

Let us know what you decide to wear.

Allure, Erica, Claud, Anna, JennRenee and Jodi

I'm 7 weeks in and due on May 25, 2004 It was an unexpected surprise.

so yes, it appears I will be popping in on this forum from time to time. I just found out two weeks ago and I'm already making lists of clothes I'm going to buy once I start to show. For now I'm wearing low-rise jeans that I bought a few sizes big. Not sure how long they'll last. They do have 4% lycra though
