Re: Fortunoff
I actually asked this question a while back but everyone assured me they were not going out of business. I had a feeling something was happening though. I'm actually going to register at Bed Bath & Beyond instead and cancel my registry with Fortunoff's!!

Re: Fortunoff
There is something going on there, bc FMIL got a frantic call from them this past week that she 'must' pick up the cake server set she bought for us and had them engrave. She said they had all this stuff lined up to be picked up by whoever got items engraved. And they were very rude to her when she picked it up. So apparently its a bit chaotic there right now.

Re: Fortunoff
I haven't heard confirmation of it, but EVERY week, I get an email about how they are having a 20% off sale. They are definitely hurting! I am registered there for 4 or 5 items. I am definitely taking them off the registry and closing my account. I give them another year!

That's only 2 weeks away. I am sure you have nothing to worry about if you already ordered something

You'll be fine. It takes awhile for a company to close out their store. Like I said...probably another year.

Re: Fortunoff
I wouldn't move your registry at the moment because its mostly rumored. The company that owns them is trying to make a decision now on what to do, whether to sell, liquidate (like L&T) or try to salvage it. But I have to tell you Macys is in sorry shape as well. I thought about moving my registry there but they might not be around long either. There are all kinds of rumors floating around about them as well and after seeing the amount of winter stuff left in the NYC store I am not surprised. I would leave your registries for now and print out your registries from either store so you have everything written down if you have to move it.

Re: Fortunoff
they're not going out of business...they've been bought out by lord & taylor....but one thing that does annoy me about Fortunoff is that a lot of the items I registered for, are not available for people to buy on line...not good for people who don't live near the store!

Re: Fortunoff
I was thinking about going to register at Fortunoff next week.
I just called them and asked if they were going out of business and they said -
'it is every possibility, we are up for sale and anything can happen'
WOW! I buy 90% of my gifts for everyone I know from there! I have wanted to register at Fortunoff since I was a little girl
This is soooo sad Where to register now? Bloomies?

Re: Fortunoff
Idont know what their deal is, but they are annoying me...my registry has been wierd on there as well. As someone said, a lot of my items can no longer be purchased online and they have discontinued a few of our items... and no one notified us!
