FORTUNOFFS - IMPORTANT

FORTUNOFFS - IMPORTANT

As you know they filed for Chapter 11 today, I spoke with my bridesmaid who works there and they are all really scared over there. Basically they have 90days to find a buyer but no one wants them. So either a company will liquidate them or they will liquidate themselves. Starting next Friday people will start getting laid off and within the next 90 days everyone will be laid off, except the store employees b/c they need them during the liquidation process. Either way they look at it they told their people they will be out of a job soon and the company will most likely be closing unless a miracle happens, which would require someone buying them. They said they don't have hopes of anyone buying them b/c of this economy.

So
1) Please pray for all these people losing their jobs and
2) change your registries!

Its so sad and scary at the same time. Look how bad the economy is when an 80 something year old company goes out of business

That stinks. I have to hand it to the employees who stick it out through the liquidation. It has to be rough...

I agree. I used to work in the corporate office at Steve and Barry's. I was with them up until October, so I went through the chapter 11 thing, then the being bought out thing, then the liquidation planning thing. Luckily I found a new job and left before they laid me off. But I have A LOT of friends from there that are out of jobs right now. This economy s*cks.

This is so sad! My mom has over $1000 in giftcards that she's gathered over the years... since they don't expire she's had some for 3+ years!!

Perhaps a mother/daughter shopping spree there is in order this weekend!

I had a gift card from when I went to do my registry. Luckily one of my girlfriends is getting married in July and her shower is in March. So I just used the card yesterday to order her gift from her registry.

Tell mom it's time to do some shopping

I hope so. I have another post saying that I moved my registry but had to pick a different china set b/c I can't find the one I picked anywhere besides Fortunoff. The problem is, someone already bought me 2 place settings. So hopefully either they or I will be able to return them.

wow...I have never seen so many stores go out of business and so many people being laid-off! It's so heart breaking to see...especially if it hits close to home.

I already told everyone that I'm doing my bridal registry over there...It really ***** that I have to change it....

Fortunoffs is taking returns from your registry. I returned a place setting yesterday. They are not giving store credit so they will put the money back on your credit card. The store was like a ghost town, it was so depressing

I have to return something that was given to me but it was NOT on my registry. Will they still take that?
