I love all the friends I made on this site, including the OFC members I'm pissing off by writing this. But now it feels like someone new puts the wrong thing in her first post and she gets chased off.

how often have we seen a REAL newbie rave a vender on their FIRST post?

The thing is that we won't know, will we? This girl, if she is in fact an actual bride, will never come back to LIWeddings. I say, if a person posts about her services on three boards in a half hour, yeah, she's a fakie, go ahead. One post talking about a candle site is not going to affect people's lives so terribly that we should jump down someone's back.

There HAVE been instances where someone posted for the first time here after having a great trial, and people would say 'Hey, who else are you using?' and that person would turn out to be an honest to goodness bride. Sometimes people lurk for awhile.

I think I'd just feel better if you guys would be a teensy bit more subtle in your attempts to 'Out the Fakies.' Scaring actual brides away from posting is not only cruel, but it's bad business for Ron and Liz.

I have to agree with Rachel on this one. Some people really don't know the rules of posting, and I think we need to at least investigate a little before jumping right on them and calling them out as a . Maybe this bride is, maybe she isn't, but if she is actually a real bride, we just totally alienated her.

I think it's a good idea for all of us OFC members to keep people in mind if we're suspicious, but to at least give them a chance to post a few more times to see what's really going on. It's not going to affect our lives one way or another if a fakie who we're not totally sure of gets by for a few mroe days.

It's true, a lot of people lurk before they become a member/post, as did I. I post when I have useful info to share or when I feel really compelled to respond to something.

I'm not one to get into internet drama, but that really wasn't nice. Poor girl.... and I personally don't think she's pushing a vendor. Just my opinions...

I thought she was just really excited to finally have something to post about..
I know I was sooooooo nervous to finally start my own new topic.. I always thought I had nothing new to say.

Or maybe I just try too hard to see the good in everyone... I am oblivious!

So what? There have been weddings on Thursdays before. When I met with the Chateau Briand they showed me their pricing work-up, and it included Thursday night affairs. I know one girl who got married on a Wednesday.

I still don't think that people should be jumping down new brides' throats for 'not knowing the rules'. These rules are unspoken, unwritten, and just plain rediculous. Look, if she'd gone on the 05 and 06 boards with this as well, I'd definitely think she was a vendor. I've seen similar posts to this from other REAL brides, and I found them helpful when I was planning. And honestly, this post isn't going to take anyone's credit cards from their wallets and MAKE them go buy anything.

If current posters discourage new brides from posting, eventually there won't be any new brides at all. Then vendors won't see the benefit of advertising with LIWeddings, and stop the flow of cash entirely. Do you think that Ron and Liz will continue to pay the bandwidth bills with no benefit to themselves out of the goodness of their hearts?

All I'm asking is for you ladies to be a teensy bit more tactful. And I know I'm not alone in this request.

Ya know i tried to let this go as we agree to disagree but you want to continue to talk about this and debate it so fine....

Jumping down her throat for not knowing the rules...WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT???? Nobody said anything about following any rules rachel. Plain and simple.....She posted a vender rave as her first post...someone said her wedding was on a thursday...These aren't rules...these are just points...used in deductive reasoning...If you want to give the benefit of the doubt ...well fine. I chose to question it. I don't jump down everyones throat for 'not following rules' and for you to say such a silly this is JUST THAT! There are plenty of weird things and people 'not following the rules' and nobody says anything at all. So PLEASE stop saying that we do. ANd i am glad that YOU have YOUR standards as to when someone could be a fakie...So we should have waited to see if she posted on the 05 board and THEN...free for all...PLEASE...That is just as silly using YOUR reasoning then. Hey she STILL wouldn't have known the rules ....
AND if you think that this is any issue maybe the 'rules' of vender posting SHOULD BE POSTED.
MOST DO KNOW that you shouldn't be just posting your business without PAYING FOR IT. Hence the advertisement all of this site.
