Ah! Just think about what you need and what you want. We decided that it's in our budget to have live musicians + uplighting as extras (on top of the usual DJ, MC, CH music). Just come up with a complete budget and then try to break it down from there... and make sure you both decide what's really important.

True. I definitely want uplighting. I think it will look nice in the WGP. FH will probably think that we don't need it. But yes, we have to decide together on what's really important.
BTW, I checked out Tommy Tunes and Body Rock's websites last night. They both look good. I like the Tommy Tunes suggestions for music at the key points of the evening.
When will you use the live musicians? Throughout the reception?

Re: fox hollow
No, we're just using the DJ and MC for the reception. We're using live musician for the ceremony and for when people arrive. For us, the ceremony is the most important part and FH might as well have demanded it. He started going towards live musicians for the CH, but gave up when I gave in to the ceremony.
Definitely check Tommy out at the CB showcase because he will absolutely give you a great deal and I heard that he is a really great guy and that even his employees are happy with the way he runs everything.
Variety DJ is one to check out. Mara would be able to give you more details since she booked them and met with them outside of a showcase.

Oooooh, nice touch at the ceremony. Your FH is a romantic at heart.
Will look into Tommy some more and Variety DJ. Have you heard of Sound Connection Djs? I received a mailer from them.

I've heard of them, but I'm a little lazy with planning and I haven't looked them up. You can start a topic on Brides Helping Brides and I'm sure you'll get responses.

Ha, you are not lazy at all! You are a 7/12 bride...you are way ahead of the game. You will be super stress free once 2012 gets here.
I will probably start one once I talk to FH about what we want and can afford. He might want to go with DJ iPod.

Haha! That's what I wanted! Oh, it'll be fine! Like I said.. plan out the WHOLE budget. I have an excel spreadsheet and I created a pillow for alternative solutions based on everything. Really.. we each pitch in an equal amount per week and we're paying for our wedding 50/50. I found a few super cheap alternatives and made it possible to go for the important stuff. You'll get to all that though in due time.

Thanks, that is comforting. I actually think we could put together a nice playlist, but would having someone else worry about 'moving the crowd' is also good.
Yep, I started a spreadsheet...FH and I are big fans of spreadsheets. Now that we have the RH I can fairly wrap my head around the other things. FH will be impressed if I find deals...so I will be on the look out. He and I are paying for the wedding by ourselves as well. It is great that you and your FH have a savings plan.

Re: fox hollow
Well.. 2012 is close, but its far enough to make it easy to budget. We got really lucky on a few things:
Wedding gown is from the Filene's Running of the Bride, so that was less than $1000. Invitations were on clearance at PartyCity for about $1.00 a box, so that was less than $10.
Those 2 shaved off $$$.
Plus.. our wedding is on a Thursday, so vendors are willing to work with us on price.

Yes, I had my heart set on 11/11/11 at first, but most of the places with good deals were already booked, plus the deals in the winter months on a Friday were compelling. And being in March 2012 gives us a good amount of time to save / pay for things slowly, but surely.
Yep, Thursday's offer great deals, especially in the summer! I am sure you made out like a bandit with the vendors. Thursdays are a real cost savings.
Filene's Running of the Brides...is there really running involved? Any pics of your dress? I got lucky too. I got my dress at the Wedding Plaza in Floral Park. They really worked with me as I changed my mind the weekend after selecting my first dress. I got mine off the rack so I didn't have to order it. Saved me a few hundred.
Invitations for only $10 with as large of a guest list as you have? That is great!

No running at all! We went lunch time and stayed for a few hours. I found my dress in the afternoon and I don't have pictures. No pictures allowed until 1 year prior to the wedding. It gives me less time to look and them and less time to stress that FH will see... especially because he already saw a dress that isn't my dress.
Floral Park? Really? I grew up there. I heard good things about them. I should check to see if they have any bridesmaids dresses that I'm interested in now that you mention it. Thanks!

Re: fox hollow
No prob...I am sure you will be there 7/19/11 with your camera.
Good that your FH isn't going to see. Mine has seen my dress on someone else already. Does your FH think the dress he saw is your dress?
You grew up in Floral Park! It is such a cute town. I live about 5-10 min away from there. Yep, the Wedding Plaza folks are nice. Ron, I think he is the owner, was super! He was responsive to my continuous emails and talked me off the ledge a couple of times when I had doubts about my original dress. I will def check them out for BM dresses.

Re: fox hollow
Yes, but he didn't see it on you!!!!!!!
Yea, I'll totally be in my dress 1 year before. It's hidden in my closet right now. FH is most likely confused. He either thinks I'm lying to hide it because he thinks he caught me.. or he knows for sure it's not my dress. Funny thing is... totally not my style, so if he thinks it's my dress, then he doesn't know me very well.
5-10 minutes away? What town are you in? When you go there, if you go any time soon, please let me know if they have Belsoie by Jasmine. They have such pretty dresses on the website that would match everything.

True, seeing it on me will be different. FH has a different idea as to what he would like to see on me. A small part of me doesn't mind if he sees pictures of me in the dress because the day of will be so different with hair, make-up, etc.
Ha, so funny that your FH is on the wrong track. But why do you have an extra wedding dress? Now I am curious. LOL.
Yep, I am in Elmont. I will definitely ask about Belsoie by Jasmine. I just took a quick look. They are very pretty dresses. I also checked out Alfred Angelo and Jordan Fashion based on the look-books Wedding Plaza gave me.

Well, even if he does see it.. you have a point.. he won't know how it looks the day of. He saw a picture of the wrong dress. I let my mom take a picture of another dress and she never deleted it. It was some major designer, so she just wanted to have it for some reason. I dunno.. she's a mom.. that's all I can say ::shrug::

RUDE? HA! NOOOOOOO!!!!!!! It's a Fox Hollow thread!!!! You are totally invited! Yay for the GT! I'm Garden Terrace too! BIG WEDDING! If it's nice, you can have it outside, but if it's not nice, it'll be inside. For you, I hope for absolutely gorgeous weather so that you can choose whichever you want. Like... in the upper 70's without a cloud in the sky type of weather.

Re: fox hollow
I totally agree with FutureWifey...the more the merrier! 2012 Fox Hollow Brides are in the house! Welcome, Welcome!
I can't wait to see what new things the Fox has in store for us in 2012.
Planning is coming along. So many people said that once you have the RH everything else will fall into place. I am relieved to have that box checked. I also have my dress. I feel like I can relax. I am subtly looking for DJs and photographers now that I have a date. Being in 2012 makes me feel like I have so much time, but once Jan 1 2011 hits I might not feel the same way.
