Fox Hollow
Hi Ladies,A few weeks ago I posted that we booked for March of 2014 at Fox Hollow, since then I've been dealing wit some serious buyer's remorse and have even found myself still shopping around for venues and wondering if we made the right choice.
A little background... my original intent was to steer clear of the typical, formal sit-down dinner - reason being all of mine and the groom's cousins (literally, all of us) are getting married withn a years time so we wanted to mix things up a little. Somehow, after visiting only two other venues we booked a typical 'long island' (please don't be offended by my terminology) wedding. I just felt like we weren't going to get the same deal elsewhere.
Long story short, I'm now reading some reviews that I don't like and just realized that BBB gives FH a 'F' rating. I've done exhaustive searches on this website and the web in general and see some mixed reviews. I haven't had any first hand experience with the venue aside from booking and am afraid that friends and family aren't being totally honest aboutntheir experience knowing that we have already booked.
I guess what I'm asking is... Whats your first hand opinion of FH? Please be honest, but feel free to FM me if you think it may be offensive to another FH bride. Truthfully, I would consider forefiting our deposit but wouldnhave to do so before the next installment is due.
Thanks for reading my ridiculously long post, and thanks in advance for sharing your honest opinions!

Im an extremely pick person. When I was younger I spent 12 years working at a dj company- Ive been to almost every hall possible on Long Island and I think Fox Hollow is one of the best.Read the reviews here - I haven't heard a bad complaint yet about Fox Hollow!
What room did you do with?

Before I booked FH I saw alot of reviews and some were not that great but what I'm trying to say is you go with what you looking for and what work for you. I mean they have what I'm looking for so keep looking and see...

I've been to Fox Hollow for 2 weddings, and I was super impressed. I work in a restaurant, so I'm always overly critical of waitstaff and food. Their food was good (I tend to not really like catering hall entrees, so I typically judge only on cocktail hour food), and the staff was extremely helpful and gave great service.FHs mom also had her second wedding there about 12 years ago. She actually told us when we got engaged that we should look there because she had such a great experience with them. I chose not to get married where anyone else I knew got married, but if that wasn't an issue, I would have looked there.
I think you should weigh out the pros and cons, and even possibly go check out some other venues ASAP, so you can make the decision for sure. This is your wedding, and you need to make sure you're happy.
Hope this helps!

I have no experience with Fox Hollow but if you are hesitant and second guessing your decision it doesn't hurt to look around some more. There are two outcomes of that:1. You decide you like another venue and lose your deposit at FH
2. You reconfirm why you chose FH in the first place
I think you have to trust your gut and go with what feels right.

I have worked a few weddings at Fox Hollow. While I have never been a guest, I have found the staff to be very helpful and hardworking. They have been around for many years so they obviously are doing something right. FH and I looked there for our wedding, however the BM we met with was trying to sell me the place, like a typical car salesman. We really didn't like him. I think had we met with someone we clicked with better, we may have considered it more.

I have no experience with fox hollow but I have experience with the bbb and I will say a business can have no complaints and still have an f unless they pay to have 'premiere status' Google for reviews and see what people are actually saying about it.

I had a very similar experience with pushy sales manager. It was all very awkward. FH and i did love the place and could have envisioned our wedding there, however, they were a bit over our budget and our Sat. night wedding would have ended at 2am - no exceptions. With those 2 cons - we decided not to book them. But I went to my cousin's wedding there in 2009 and it was a nice experience. I honestly only hear really great things about Fox Hollow and they have a really good reputation.
I think you should see some other venues in the very near future so you can give yourself some peace of mind.

We loved FH when we went to see it..it didn't have the wedding factory feel to it. Also, I've been to 3 weddings there one with me being in the wedding party and I've always enjoyed the experience and food. We would have booked it the pricing was a little lower and if I hadn't been there so much. I'll say trust your gut..maybe looking around at other venues is what you need to calm your fears. Good luck!

I was there for a wedding about 13 years ago, so my opinion may be a little dated. But, when we were there, the food was good, the staff was great, and overall we had a good time.

I agree, check out other venues that will give you a bigger and clearer picture of what you are really looking for.Remember is your wedding and it is your vision so you and your fiance have to be happy and confident with your decision.
My wedding is at the FH as well and my fiance and I fell in love with the venue, like love at the first sight! The prices are slightly more expensive than other venues we visited but for all the options they offered us, I feel it is worth every penny! :) Good luck!

Thanks for the advice all. The guy we met with was a total salesman - agreed! But I am surprised to hear that FH was pricier than other venues! I thought we got such a good deal... sounds like I really failed to do my homework on this one.We are scheduled to have our dinner 'tasting' there a week from today - I'm hoping that changes my opinion of things!

I didn't find them to be expensive in comparision to other places. In fact I found them to be cheaper then a bunch of the 12 I visited. They were less expensive then the venue we chose. You never know what other people have/or cut out. If you are comfortable with the price then i'd leave it as be. Westbury manor was more expensive then some places we saw but I felt happy with what we were getting for the price we paid. Go for the tasting. Hopefully it will make you confident in your choice.

I am an extremely picky person and actually went through this with a vendor and luckily i got my money back.to give you background- my wedding is my mothers wedding and i'm the guest bride. she is well intended and my parents are definitely helping us out a significant amount. Now all of my visions are what my mother sees. FH and I wanted a destination wedding and after my mother refused to go, we had to cave and have a wedding we don't want. So I needed something different. We are having our wedding at Flowerfield- very non traditional place. Now, we chose instead of dinner to keep cocktail hour open all night with their chefs cooking hot food in the room for everyone ongoing for 3 hours. For us- it was 10X more food than what comes with dinner so it worked for us...
my advice is do all you can to have the wedding of your dreams! you deserve it and you should have the day you want! :)

Re: Fox Hollow
Hi,I am also a Fox Hollow bride in WGP in March! I looked at about 8 venues before booking at Fox Hollow. Honestly the BM wasnt my favorite but I loved the place! I think you just have to be able to envision your wedding there. Maybe look at a few more places to compare. I know that they are very rigid with the timing but I have heard nothing but good things about how they make sure brides dont see each other and how fabulous their food is. All of the venders I've booked so far raved about Fox Hollow. However I have not tasted the food nor had I gone to a wedding there. We just felt that it was right and went for it.

I never saw Fox Hollow because I was very turned off by the person I spoke with on the phone; but I have an old friend who was married there and was very happy with the venue and hotel. Not so sure about the BBB score- East Wind also got an F. However, every other venue I'd looked up (off the top of my head thse are the ones I remember checking on: Chateau La Mer, Swan Club, Crest Hollow, Crescent Beach Club, Glen Cove Mansion and Three Village Inn) got an A or A+.

We loved Fox Hollow and would have absolutely booked there. It was just a teensy bit over budget and the BM we met with totally turned us off. I hear the food is great, we didn't like that our 'tasting' would be paid for by us at their restaurant with a free appetizer.I've seen beautiful pics there, and the Somerly is gorgeous. I agree with everyone else, and think you should definitely go to a few other venues just to see if you feel better about possibly going with them. If you don't, you've made the right choice!
