Fox Hollow - Am I wrong to be MAD? (..long)

Fox Hollow - Am I wrong to be MAD? (..long)

a little background.. our original wedding date was May 6th, since we were in the midst of buying our house last year, we decided to push back our wedding date 3 months, to August... we gave Fox Hollow over a year notice (May last year we informed them of the change)....

ok, so yesterday we went to FH to pick out our menu, linens and cake etc....
it turns out they changed our ceremony time to 30 ahead on the new contract and DID NOT mention this to me, but of course the first thing they said was that August weddings are more expensive than May... anyways... so we found out of the time change last night, you can imagine my shock, invitations are printed, RSVPs are received, guests are scheduled to arrive the originally agreed time.
The coordinator I spoke to last night had to nerve to ask me if I want to call my guests to let them know the time change. I looked at her in disbelieve. I understand it isn't her fault, so I did not give her a hard time about it...

but today I woke up feeling really jipped...that's 30 mins of service I am PAYING MORE for and NOT GETTING.

So I called back to speak to a manager this morning... nobody was in yet.

Tell me, is it my right to demand they make this right??? I am paying for a service which will be compromised.. I deserved to be compensated!

I know flipping out at them will not get my point across, how would you approach this?

ETA: I did not sign the new contract with the new time, the contract i DID sign states my ceremony starts at the time I thought it was suppose to start. Therefore I should not be bind to the new contract with the changed time.

Well #1 -
I do not believe that August weddings are more expensive than May weddings.

#2 - they cannot change a time unless you agreed to it and they have that in writing.
When you changed your date, did you sign a new contract with the new info on it?
When I changed my date from July to May, everything was on the new contract - the times, the rooms, all that stuff.

I was surprised too! .. but they told me summer is THE wedding season, therefore I have to pay more per person in August, so we agreed.

Now they pull this sh*t!!

untill now, I have not really flipped out at anything regarding the wedding.. i try to stay calm and just wish for a wonderful day.. but they do this to me 3 weeks before my day?!

I agree with Lauren - the high season for weddings are May, June and September. Also, they can't change your time without confirming with you and getting it in writing. Stand your ground!

ok, first, august is just about the least expensive time of year to get married. its so damn hot, who can be bothered? don't take offense as i am getting married in august.

secondly, legally i don't think you are bound to the new contract. i see that things changed but why does moving the time of the ceremony up make things different? i mean on Fox Hollow's end, not yours.

i would tell them you are not signing until the time is changed back to the original time.

how would you call every guest in 3 weeks anyway?

Since you didn't sign a new contract, they are bound to the old one. Just bring it to them and say 'This is the contract, I expect you to honor it'. Shouldn't even be a fight!

Don't let them bully you. You did not agree to the time and you didn't acknowledge it with your signed consent. Tell them that.

Also tell them that you told your lawyer.

You're well within your rights to demand that they honor the original contract, that's what you signed..not the new one with the earlier time. There is no way that you should be expected to call your guests and notify them of the time change. Stick to your guns.

Sorry they're doing this to you

Re: Fox Hollow - Am I wrong to be MAD? (..long)

ok, spoke to Dave at FH.. he tried to blame ME for not paying attention to the time change.. I told him..
1)I was NOT told the change
2) I did NOT sign the new contract with the new time
3) I wasn't even offered a fax copy of the new contract, therefore last night was the first time I saw the contract... as I thought everything was the same as the original contract, other than the pricing and DATE (not time).

He doesn't understand why I can't call my guests to inform them the time. I told him that is completely ridiculous he is asking me to do this.

Bottom line, I can end our party at the time they need us to end, even though we paid for that 30 mins and we aren't getting, but in order for us to agree to this, they need to compensate us, either by honoring the original pricing, or throw in other things.

He said he has to take a look at my contract and get back to me either today or tomorrow.
I told him TODAY.

I can't believe he tried to shift the blame to ME. This is my one and only wedding, they've done thousands of weddings, they should be the one to pay attention to details!

That is absolutely ridiculous!!! You are right in telling them that they need to do something to fix this (and to honest with you I think they know that). You did not sign anything stating a time change, so they should either keep your time, or you pay less when you go to pay your final balance. Stay strong and do NOT let them tell you otherwise!!!

Whoooa...that does not sound like Fox Hollow. I'd go speak to Arthur (I'm assuming you met with Jen last night?)

The whole thing just sounds weird to me. I'm assuming they want your ceremony at 1pm now? That's so silly....everything as I understand it, is timed based on the room you're in.

I'm so sorry you're dealing with this cr@p. FM me if you want to talk.

REally though, go to Arthur.

this is OUTRAGEOUS! I agree with the other girls, stand your ground, you have it in writing that you're entitled to your chosen time and if for some reason they can't honor the time there had better be some SERIOUS compensation! Please keep us posted when he calls tomorrow - he had better call tomorrow!

that just makes me so angry reading it! that is absolutely outrageous. don't end it early unless that is something you really really want to do and, if so, demand major compensation. major. i am so sorry you have to deal with this so close to your wedding!!

You have every right to be mad. They should be able to accommodate the original time that you requested, especially if they are experienced with weddings. Don't let them take your 30 minutes away.

i would be pissed.
im sure by now they cannot change the time because im sure they have a party already before you or after you that cannot fit in that time slot. im sure that is why this happend.
i would definetly have them compensate you in some other way if this is the real reason why. this is just wrong.
Keith is the operations manager if you want to speak with him he was very helpful with all the final preperations for our wedding.
sorry this is happening to you.

ok, just got off the phone with Dave and the whole situation is being resolved. I am just very relieved. All I want is smooth sailing from now on to the wedding, pls!!

.. and I was told the chairs in the WGP are brand new, but FH is gracious enough to provide the chair covers at no extra charge.

*serenity now*

Oh good! That's awesome that they threw in the chair covers too! they owe you at least that for your stress! Happy everything worked out!
