freakin out right now...

freakin out right now...

so my fh went on interviews to see if he can get a job as a special ed teacher in district. he got called back 3 times for a position in a certain district, but today he got a call that he did not get the job bc he had little 'classroom' experience. how is supposed to get experience if no one will hire him????? he left a decent paying job to try for this. right now he will work privately for an agency providing early intervention services but they dont have any benefits and they dont take any taxes out. i feel really bad bc we used to work together and i kind of pushed him into leaving the school bc i thought that it would be better if we worked apart from each other. i feel horrible right now.

thanks for letting me vent!

Something will come up..especially in Special Ed. I teach it, and there will be jobs. Wait till the summer because they may not have all their #'s (students) in proper placements. You will be surprised. Keep looking in the New York Times. Or send out a massed mailing.

I work in a special education preschool and they are always looking for teachers. The pay isn't as great as a school district, but you get lots of hands on experience. If he has any interest in working with kids that young.

Has he tried BOCES? Also, some agencies take taxes out. I do some EI homecare after school for Kidz Therapy and they take taxes out (and cover my workman's comp.). FM if you want any info. on either.
