i initially looked there. There food was fantastic. I was disappointed with the decor and the fact that there is no elevator. we asked about that and they said the permits are in for a new elevator. I've spoken to many ppl who have said that their permits have been in for years (at least that is what they are telling brides). I would get everything in writing.

seriously..dont let a floor bother you..its about the atmosphere..the staff and the food

i didnt even look anywhere else and i was an out of state bride..i planned a trip up there to book everything and jsut went to CLM to book and that was it

i said when i was 5 yrs old that i wanted to get married there and i did

the dance floor is scuffed? who cares! hopefully it will be full of your guests dancing on it, you won't notice it

also, the carpet? with all the people, chairs, tables, no one will see it.

plus the lights will be dimmed! don't stress about this small stuff.

YOU GUIYS ARE SO RIGHT! I get a little overboard I guess. My main point was that, maybe they were lying to me to get my business. But, they will put it on the contract, I'm sure of it. I asked :)

contract ... contract contract .. it will all work out it will be dark ppl will not be lookin at the floors ... lol us brides are very anal thats the prob .. but i would be the same it will ALL be fine

they had quoted me $55 a head and I thought for sure that was way too low. I actually was justtalking to a girlfriend today that was married 2 years ago at Crest Hollow. She said that when she looked at CLM then...they said they were about to put new carpets in too! I would DEFINITELY GET IT IN WRITING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You can get good deals other places also.

Did you check out:

Sunset Harbor
Woodbury Country Club

I know they all were priced pretty decently.

I'm getting married at CLM in just a few weeks, and I went recently to drop off some things and there was a wedding set up. I can honestly say, you dont even notice the rug! I hate the rug there too, and becuase of the tables, Dj/Band etc. it is not noticable. And people will be scuffing up the dance floor all night, nobody will notice that either. But if you are really worried aobut it, put it in your contract or look at other venues. You are going to have so many other things to stress over, that those things are not worth worrying about.

Its great. The tasting is 4/2/08. I was going to hold my date and go see a wedding set up that weekend to make sure I LOVE it. But I wanted to get some feedback.

You will feel better when you see it set up for a wedding. It is gorgeous. I am also a little concerned about the dance floor, its in really bad shape. Lou told me that they were going to put in a granite dance floor...hopefully it will be done by 2009!

The tasting is incredible...I went with mine and FHs family and we all loved it...everything was delicious...my dad almost drowned in the chocolate fountain, I ate foods that I never ever ate before....awesome...you will love it!

im not worried about the carpet or the dance floor for that matter..im worried that they will be in the midst of construction at my wedding! I doubt that nick would let it look like **** but uggh that is frustrating to think about...if they are starting in may who knows when it will end! I dont want it to be like half assed at my wedding.....i have faith in them though...i really think they will make it look beautiful

i went to failurebydesigns wedding there and didnt notice any of that...and im a bride, so i pay attention- but i noticed nothing...i thought clm was beautiful and i kinda wished i booked there

Hi ladies,
here is an update from Nick at CLM.

The renovations have started upstairs already; the carpet is done, the painting is almost done and the ceiling will be done by 6-1-08. As for the downstairs the marble dance floor will be in by next weekend, the windows in 2 weeks, and the carpet by July. We anticipate being completely done with everything by mid July.(2008)

They are doing renovations this year upstairs for sure. I'm not sure about downstairs. I don't think they would just say that either. They're pretty well respected and I've heard nothing but good things about them.

hey i'm budding in but when FH and I went to CLM we felt the same exact way....right after CLM we went to crescent beach club and it was a noticeable difference. just the difference in the cleanliness of the places and the quality of the decor, etc. i hope noone gets offended..it's jmho.

The price difference is huge...i'm paying more than double for CBC but FH's family is in the business and they would have known that we tried to cut corners....just search a few more places so you are sure you really want to do it there...don't know how your financial situation is but if you like that feel, you should totally check out CBC.

ETA: I asked Lou the SAME question you did...and he did not tell me they were even thinking of doing renovations...he said that's the way it will be.
