So I went to look to Chateau La Mer. When I walked into the ballroom, I almost started to cry. I was not expecting THE MAIN BALLROOM to look the way it did. The dance floor was all scuffed up and the moldings around it were BROKEN. The carpet, OH LORD, the carpet looked 25 years old. So I told Lou, Listen, is this going to get fixed before August 2009? '
Yes, don't worry, we are putting in brand new marble dancefloor and the carpet is going to look like this...'
he showed me the sample carpeting. It looked great. My mom asked me, 'feel better?' YES I DO! Now, I'm thinking he only told me that to get my business? I know how these guys are...I work in the business. Is he pulling my leg? He said the renovations were starting in May of '08. Do I believe him?
Girls, has anyone who has booked there for future weddings signed a contract stating the renovations would be done? The place is great bit OMG, I can't have my wedding there when the place looks like that!!!

is it in your contract? did you have them put on the contract that there are renovations to be made and they would be done in time for the wedding?
#1 rule of wedding negotations with RHs
If its NOT in writing, they do NOT have to guarantee ANYTHING.

i am getting married there this summer so if they say they are starting in may, i wonder if it would be done by july? Did you like the carpet? Do you mean the wood surrounding the actual dance floor is broken? Now I'm nervous

Yes, right now, when i saw it last weekend, the corner of the dancefloor where the windows are ... molding is broken.
he showed me the carpet too, I loved especially since my colors are pink and brown...it would look awesome. i just want to know for sure if they are being done. sorry sweetie, i didnt mean to freak you out but i have my HEART set on this palce and this is why i'm upset as well.

You need to make sure that you get it in writing in the contract. WHen I went to book Chateau Briand they are renovating my mother made them put in writing that they renovations will be done by Jan 2010- and the bm said that they will be done by April of 2008! At first I thought she was crazy, but she was right! Always get it in writing

May through September. Saturday is $110.00.
Such a different. Its great. The tasting is 4/2/08. I was going to hold my date and go see a wedding set up that weekend to make sure I LOVE it. But I wanted to get some feedback.

can you wait until May before booking? Then you can see if the renovations are actually being done? It looks like you want a Thurs so it prob shouldnt book up too fast.
We booked our Aug 08 date in May 07 and got the date we wanted (a Sunday).
In the meantime, check out some other halls. If you want a Thurs you should be able to get some great deals.

I am booked with CLM and when I went to visit it didnt seem nearly shoddy as you describe...most dance floors have scuffs on them...peoples shoes ar eon them all the time. Im not sure what you saw but I am still very excited...personally, im not going to be looking at the dance floor the day of my wedding and I dont think many guests will either...just my opinion...
If you are that concerned, see if you can get it in the contract. If not, look elsewhere. You can find other halls with that price im sure.

do not freak out..
i just got married there a month ago and that stuff..you dont even notice..it will be dark in there..your wedding is over a year away and im sure it will get done..you obviously want to book there for other reasons besides the carpet or dancefloor and if that is whats bothering you then i would keep looking
they are the best people in my opinion when it comes to negotiating and doing what you want they trew in about $1000 worth of free stuff for me because i was a little under my minimum and let me have my DJ do the confetti which i guess is a BIG NO NO..
the ballrooms are renovated..take a look at what that place used to look like..the back when i was growing up was this gross solid wood outside and it just wasnt pretty

You should definitely look at other places, their are soooo many places out there @ at great prices. We looked at no lie like 20 different places before we came back to our most favorite place to book, we got 2 quotes, the first one was in 2007 at like 55 per head, then we came back a few months ago and got even a better deal & we didnt even have to compromise anything, we got it in for the summertime on a saturday night including everything.. My point is you should 100% look at every place out there and see all your options. Save yourself the headache with that place, unless you really really like it and want it.

I don't sweat the small stuff..I love CLM for the view, the people, the food the room everything...i dont care f the dance floor has scuffs...im not looking down, im not looking at the carpet. It felt right for us . thats all that matters.
