How many suit cases did/is everyone bringing??

Take two suitcases! We stuffed everything in ONE HUGE one and it was a nightmare trying to come back to NY. It was too heavy so they made us take like 10lbs. of stuff OUT and we had to buy another bag!! It's better to have two medium sized suitcases than one big one.

As for carry-ons take one suitcase type and one backpack type. HTH!

Re: French Polynesia (Tahiti, Bora Bora, etc.) Honeymoons!!!!!!

do NOT go over 50 pounds in your suitcase or they will charge you $25 for every 25 pounds you go over. they WILL charge you as they charged friends we met on the cruise. we bought another bag in hawaii because we knew we'd be over--we wound up having to get of line and move stuff from one of my bags into another because we had gone over and i refused to pay more.

you can check 2 bags of up to 50 pounds each. definitely bring an empty duffel bag with you if you don't want to pay a surcharge.

Great pictures - thanks for posting! Not many of us on here are doing a cruise...we're all pretty much doing Moorea and Bora Bora mostly. If you go back someday you should consider that instead of a cruise to experience the overwater bungalows. I don't think any of us girls on here are staying in Papeete for more than 12 hrs - I wouldn't even stay one night but we have no choice b/c the flights from NY get in so late and there's no transportation to the other islands at that hour. Papeete really is just the city island....not many people spend too much time there. Just fly in and out of there. Sounds like you thought this was the most popular island. I think Moorea and Bora Bora definitely are.

you're welcome! i'll try to post more later on.

i really didn't want to stay in one island for more than a day. i get very bored. although i love laying by a pool, i love that i visited 9 islands in 15 days. it was an amazing experience. i had no desire to stay in an overwater bungalow. friends that we met on the cruise, who had stayed in an overwater bungalow in a different hotel, had cockroaches, lots of water noise and TONS of mosquitoes!!! we didn't have any of that--i don't remember what hotel it was, but i remember they said it was gorgeous. if you're staying in a bungalow, definitely bring bug spray!

tahiti and bora bora are the most well known--i had never heard of moorea before my trip! papeete (the capital of tahiti) it a big port and the main airport.

i hope you ladies have as great of a time as i did! someone had FMed me and asked me to do a review, but i never really looked at this thread before. i might of at the beginning, but i haven't been following along with the discussion.

have a great time ladies! bring spf 30-45 AT LEAST because the sun is strong!

I know Tahiti is popular....but I just meant the point of Tahiti is just to fly in and out of there. No one spends more than 1 - 2 nights tops there.
It's certainly not 'the place to stay' or anything.

Re: French Polynesia (Tahiti, Bora Bora, etc.) Honeymoons!!!!!!

good review and just to let you know there were absolutely no roaches or bugs for that matter in our owb at the ic thalasso spa on bora bora.

we did not have an issue with bugs at all.

word to the wise on booking flights.

book with air tahiti nui - travel on aa flights is awful because they do not give you half of what air tahiti nui does.

the seats are smaller too.

(my review is in the works)

Me & Fi, signed up for this to use at the interconnitnental hotels.

I spoke with the interconntinetal today and they placed notes on the reservation for an upgrade...
I hope this is not bogus though it came from their website.

hope this helps

Re: French Polynesia (Tahiti, Bora Bora, etc.) Honeymoons!!!!!!

When i spoke with the interconnitnental last night they said that since we were ambassadors they noted the account for a room upgrade. so i asked would they have the next level of rooms available for the upgrade and they said they have to leave 8% of there rooms open for ambassdors. when i get home tonight i could list the stuff from they package they mailed us. Also we got a voutcher for a night free at any intercontineltal which we are using for the honeymoon.

hope this helps

So I am busily trying to pack up my life for our HM to Tahiti in 5 days!............ It is so overwhelming, and so exciting at the same time!... I am definately over the 50 lb limit!!!!

Those who have already been there, how much cash did you bring with you? Can you pay for mostly everything, including the excursions by credit card? How much do you recommend we bring with us? Thanks!
