Fri Weddings...Did ppl show at your church?!

for some reason i feel like since my weddings a Fri night ppl wont show at the church! I dont know if i should have it at 3 or 4?! Its winter and im a lil worried about weather and I do want a few pics outside w/ some day light! ( i know it will be cold but IF we get a winter like last yr. we really luck out!!) CH is at 8 so i dont want a huge gap but i do need time for pics and again i want some light out!
im just curious for a Fri wedding did alot of ppl show for the ceremony?! i know my immediate families will show and thats prob plenty....just curious!

well i would assume that people WOULDNT show for a friday wedding too!

However, I was pleasantly surprised - the two weddings i went to with the most guests were both on a friday!

one of them was our very own jeaninehubert's - she had a packed church at 3pm

unless many of your friends are teachers i dont think there is much of a difference between 3 and 4 ( assuming most people get out of work at 4 or 5) so i would go for three and get some pics in!!!

i know this might be a NO-NO, but.... have you considered taking pics before the ceremony?

if you're ok with seeing fh before the ceremony, that could be the perfect way to make the most of sunlight

i was thinking changing it too 3.....bc i always feel like it wont start on time anyway...so by the time we get out and do pics outside then go back in to snap some more and then leave there i feel like it will be 430 or later! And it gets dark at 530 in Jan right?! i dont even remember anymore!!


not many ppl are teachers.....prob 3 or so...and those are old friends so i dont think they will even go too the church to be honest!

i know when i got to a wedding we ALWAYS go the ceremony....doesnt matter day or time i just feel if your invited you go to that not just the party! But thats how i am...im not sure if others feel the same!


i think i will just change it....just so it gives us some time to play around with!

I have been to 3 Friday weddings and the church was packed for all 3. I do not think you will have a problem.

I agree - I have been to 2 Friday night weddings this year and both weddings the Church was packed with both family and friends. The Church time was at 4pm and a lot of people made it. I know for me I worked both days, I just skipped my lunch break and left work at 3pm instead of 4pm, so I was at the Church on time for both weddings. People will find a way to be there, trust me.

i thought about it and that lasted all about 2 mins! i really didnt want too see him b4 hand. I wanted to get ready w/ my girls and do pics with them 1st and get pics w/ our daughter (FG)..........

i guess its always an option--id just rather not do it..if i can help it!

i am getting married on a saturday and i have been told to only expect about 50% of the people to show up to the church.

i always go to the ceremony so i think that's weird, but my vendors keep telling me that a lot of people will skip it and just come to the reception. so i think this could happen no matter what day you pick!

I have been to 3 Friday weddings in recent memory. 1 I didn't go to at all. I had to race home and get dressed, etc... I didn't have time. But all the pertinent people were there. And the reception was packed!

Another had - well nobody really there. The Wedding party and family. I was one of the wedding party. But they were totally happy -- and again PACKED reception.

The last had a packed out church. She did have it a little later... but it was suprisingly full! Probably more full than any other wedding I can actually think of!

I had the same concerns, but my FH brought up a good point. Who wouldn't want to leave work early on a Friday??? After reading everyone's posts I think I am def going to switch to a Fri night now.

True, but if you have anybody traveling from out of state then they might have to take off Thursday too.

The sun sets at 4:40 on your wedding day. I hope this helps you. This means, you'll lose most of your daylight by 4:20. I know, because I am a photographer of sunsets. It's my passion. If you are interested, there was an indoor place we took pictures and it was great!!!! (Because only late Spring and summer brides get real greenery) FM me if you have any questions.

wow does it set that early?! i didnt realize that i was about to move my ceremony later ( just because i have SOOO much time btw the ceremony and reception!) oh well screw my guests i am going to keep it at 2:30 and the CH starts at 7:30 i want SOME outside pics LOL

My friend is getting married on a Friday in November. I've already told DH that he doesn't need to take off/leave work early for the ceremony. I happen to have Fridays off, but if I didn't, I wouldn't be able to attend the ceremony either- but that's because I own my own business and there would be noone to teach for me.
I think whoever can be there will be, but many people skip the church even when the wedding is on a Sat. or Sun. so you kind of have to just go with it.

You should know your friends and family best - if they are the type of people that find the ceremony important they will be there no matter what time the wedding is on a Friday. I think the ceremony is the most important part - w/out it you don't have anything to celebrate

I wouldn't worry about the gap it will give the local people a chance to go to the ceremony and run home and change for the reception.
