Are you planning on taking your FH's last name, and if not, why?
I am taking FH's last name and truly can't wait. My last name is another 'first name' and I am sick of being called the wrong name. Really, it's very annoying! lol

YEP! I think that the only thing I am traditional about. I even started practicing LOL luckily I actually like his name and its still Irish :)

My last name is more original.. whereas when I switch to my FH's last name... I'll have the same last name as thousands of people instead of about 100 or less people.

I'm going from the 2nd most popular surname in America to what seems like the most popular Jewish surname. I'm not thrilled about changing my name, I'm kind of set with Johnson. lol He wanted us both to change our names to something different but I thought that was weird.

His father is Egyptian and over there they usually take their grandfathers first name as their last. So they changed their last name to sound less arabic so people can pronounce it (which didn't help). Essentially its a fake last name and no family ties to it. He doesn't seem to care he just liked that his last name was unique on Facebook.
I keep going back and forth...I know I'm going to take his name in some way, but I don't know if I'm going to drop my middle name and change it to my last name followed by his last name, or keep my middle name and last name, and add his last name.
Oh, and I have no idea what I'm going to do professionally yet.

oooooo gotcha, ive been joking around with my FH and saying hes taking mine and some of his co-workers started too. i think they put my name on his locker too lol

LOL i joke with FH all the time about this all the time...his CVS card is Mr. my last name and I pee my pants every time he has to use it.

I plan on hyphenating my last name with FH's last name, but professionally I will just go by his, since its easier to pronounce than mine. There is only 5 letters in my last name, but it gets butchered from time to time. The reason I'm hypenating my name legally is because my Dad had 3 girls and we are the end to our last name The are no men to carry it on, which makes my sisters and I rather sad.

I was going to just take his name but decided it would be easier for me to just hyphenate bc i think it would be less confusing professionally

I LOVE LOVE my current last name but I will definitely be changing it to FH's...even though it's very bland compared to my current one!
I joke with FH that now the baby will have to have a spicy first name to make up for it
