What are your thoughts on a friday night wedding or a saturday afternoon wedding? What would you rather have?

Friday night vs. Sat afternoon Weddings?
I would have preferred a Saturday wedding but for practical reasons Friday night weddings are cheaper and it seems like it's the norm nowadays anyway so we went with Friday night plus the date we picked is a holiday weekend.

If I were attending the wedding I'd prefer the Sat afternoon only because I wouldn't have to take off or leave work early and rush to get ready (although at the same time an excuse to take off wrk is always nice lol), BUT I would go to either, especially if you were a close friend/family.
Do what's better for your budget. I originally wanted a Sat night (ideal time of course) but as we all know, its most expensive. So I saved over $30pp moving the wedding 1 day to a Sunday night. At first FH and I were concerned about ppl not coming but we got over that quickly knowing that those who really mattered would be there no matter what day. For those that couldn't or will complain too bad, don't come. Less ppls plates we'll have to pay for

Thanks guys. Yes ideally i wanted a saturday night. But, realistically i cannot afford it next summer. THe difference between friday night and sat afternoon is about $30. I really like the night setting though for a wedding. I don't know what to do. I know I am on a tight budget!

IF i were in the wedding I'd rather a Fri PM , because i can take the time off and one time i was in a sunday AM wedding and i had to get up at 5! PS i should have taken off the day AFTER that one lol

Friday wedding worries me that not alot of people would be able to make the church because of work!!!

If your getting married in a church, check with them first about times. I know my church is 2pm on Saturday (we are having a mass, so it's about an hour long), then we need to allow time for photos and travel.

I prefer night weddings but it depends on the crowd..if its a mellow crowd than a day wedding but a party crowd def a night
I would prefer to have a Friday night over a Saturday afternoon. But when you visit venues, ask about holiday weekend rates! FH and I saved a ton of money by having it on a Thursday night, which happens to be the day before July 4th. So it feels like a Friday night but everybody will still have 3 days off afterward!

personally i prefer a Friday night because I am more of a night person when it comes to partying and having energy lol. I also like to get things done during the days on the weekends and a Saturday afternoon wedding takes up the entire day. However, a wedding is a wedding and no matter what time or day it is on i know i will always have fun! Everyone has their preferences but you can't go wrong with either one really.

if you do Saturday afternoon you have to think about after party plans- whether you make them or you just have a hotel with a bar - which is tough on long island!

I think people who want to come to the church will come regardless of whether its a friday or saturday. Do whatever works best for you, don't worry about the guests. Everyone who wants to make it will, plus they have over a years notice to make arrangements.

If u prefer a night time wedding andcyou would save $30 then go for the Fri! That $30pp is a big dif! U will save lots of $$.
