Friday or Sunday?

Opinions please....

With a years notice, would you rather attend a Friday night wedding or a Sunday night?
I was thinking of trying to set the ceremony for around 3:00 ish....then 2 hours for pics....5:00 cocktail hour....party should end around 10:00...what do you think?

If the party is ending at 10, I do not think that is too late for a Sunday night - people need to go to work the next day, yes, but it's not too late. If you do it on a Friday, almost everyone would have to take off or at least take a half day to attend your ceremony. I say Sunday's better.

I picked Friday because I hate going places on Sunday nights. That's my relax and unwind night before the work week starts all over. That said, if you do pick Friday, maybe have the cocktail hour start at 6 or 7 even. Not everyone will be able to get out of work that early to make it to a 5 pm cocktail hour and it would be a shame to pay for all of that and not have everyone who responded yes to be able to take part.

FH and I debated a friday or sunday wedding. We decided on friday b/c it gives people the weekend to recover, plus my RH doesnt have sunday afternoon open. Our church is at 3:30pm and the cocktail hr starts at 7:30, I know theres a lot of time in between but it just works out easier that way with pics and getting people to and from the church etc. A lot of people think a friday is a great idea, most people dont care and if they really matter, they will make it a point to be there

I had a Friday wedding! I picked Friday because I'm more in the mood to party on a Friday night than I am on a Sunday night when I'm thinking about how I have to go to work the next day. But I think ending at 10 pm on a Sunday night would be fine, it's not too late for people to get home and get ready for sleep. But If you have it on a Friday, I agree that you should make it begin later than 5pm so people won't miss the first hour or so.

Here's the thing. We wanted Columbus weekend, but the reception hall is booked. He may have that Friday open. At least that's what we were hoping for. It gives everyone a long weekend. The nice thing is that we can get married at he location, and there are no other weddings, so we just tell him the time and he will set it.....there's no time frame

I picked Friday bc it doesnt matter how long you stay out most people dont work the next day. Normally on Sundays I like to relax at home and do errands for the week.
I am starting my ceremony at at later time (7:00pm) to give guests more time to get there.

We are also doing a Friday night wedding! Its on Memorial Day weekend, which gives OOT guests the whole weekend to make a NYC vacation. Also, it gives you more time for your honeymoon so you dont need to take off from work and use your vaca days. I like night weddings. I have noticed at the weddings Ive gone to, people like to dance and party more at night too!

We also have to decide if we want Sept or Oct. Our location is on the water, and I was thinking how nice it would be to have the ceremony about an hour before the sun sets. Then we can take some pics, and our guests could enjoy cocktail hour as the sun is setting on the bay.....

I picked a Sunday but it's during a holiday weekend-so everyone is off the next day for Memorial Day. We were gonna do a Friday but we figured that a lot of people would not be able to get there in time from work.

If you have it at 3:00 on Friday then people will have to take off early to make it to the ceremony, or less people will make it. Don't forget 5:00 CH people will still need to leave work early to make and their will be traffic at that time.

I think it depends on you, and your important guests. For my situation a Sunday wedding was more convenient than a Saturday.. go figure! My MOH will be doing Saturday nursing school clinicals so that took Friday and Saturday out for me.

Gosh....why does this have to be so hard?

I was thinking that if I was a guest, I would rather take Friday off, or leave early, and have a three day weekend. The majority of our guests are family. About 80%. Do you think they would still work if it was on a Friday?

If you're doing an early wedding, I say sunday. If u can move the cocktail later, id say Friday..I dont like late sunday weddings bc of work the next day...not to say people wouldn't come, bc they do. Were doing a sunday wedding from 2-9...I was suprised to see how many ppl took monday off of work to have an excuse to cut the week short!! If u can make the cocktail later, friday, if not...then sunday!!

I got married on a Friday & I had many people show up that I did not expect. We actually ran out of chairs & a few people were standing.

If they really want to be there, they will take that doy off or a 1/2 day to be there.

How much later should I make the CH? If I have the wedding and reception in the same location, what do the guests do? If I start the ceremony too late, it will be dark already.....

Sunday. It's too hectic to get to a Friday wedding, and even if it ended at 11, people would still go to work. So 10pm end on a Sunday would be fine.

I would do Sunday, we're having a sunday wedding because I hate doing anything after working all week on fridays. My cousin got married on goof friday and it ****** trying to get all the way out to LI from Queens on a friday in rush hour.

I like Friday better than Sunday. Depending on my relationship with the person I would take the day/half day and make it there in time for the ceremony. Sunday is tough...I feel like all I would be thinking is I have to work the next day, ya know?
