Friday PM or Sunday Afternoon

My first post... :)
First, we are still unsure of location. One option is the Westbury Manor.

We can't decide on Friday PM or Sunday afternoon. Ceremony would be outdoors, cocktail and reception indoors in their garden/library room. From a 'guest's' perspective, which would you prefer to attend? Cost about the same.

We had ours Fri night...and wouldn't have changed anything...most everyone was there on time..and if not..really not that late...those who knew it was real important for me to be there for my ceremony ended up taking the day off or getting off a bit early...or just getting their butts there on time!! And like one of the girls said, it was a great way to kick off the weekend with out having to worry about work the next day..and partying when its dark out is always fun..ppl seem to party harder for some reason...Good luck!!! Also, pictures...you have all day to get ready and get great pics!!!

What time did you have the ceremony? At the RH or Church?

Not a big fan of Friday night weddings. Don't feel like I have enough time to prepare and tire a lot sooner than I'd like. JMO

I prefer Friday night weddings. When I get out of work, or even if I take the day off, I'm so excited to go to the wedding and be partying, knowing I have no work the next day and the whole next day to recuperate.

I've found it sooooo tough to go to work on Monday after being at a Sunday wedding. Friday and Saturdays are my day to go out and have fun. Sundays are my day to relax at home.

We had the same issue when looking at WM. we wanted the fri night or sat afternoon. i really wanted a night reception just because it sets a party atmosphere. i was afraid an afternoon wedding would be more like a clam-bake shindig and not the formal-type affair that i want. we worried about the older family members driving home late at night and worried about the party crowd not having anything to do when the reception ended at 6pm + getting rushed out because they need to set up for the next party. We definitly weren't considering Sunday because we know most of our friends want to drink and party and not worry about work the next day. Ultimatly- you're not gonna please everyone so don't rack your brain trying. You have to do what you want!

Is Saturday afternoon an option? That's what I'm doing at WM - 1:00pm-6:00pm. I figure its good because people still have an extra day to the weekend.

I chose friday, but would have chosen Sunday if it were later in the day. 12 is kinda early.

I think Friday night weddings are more of a 'party', Sundays are more laid back and people usually don't drink as much so it depends which one you're looking for.

I would say Sunday only a bit later say 2 or 3. Plus sometime you get your Location cheaper on a Sunday. I mean ours is in Ohio but we originally was planning a Saturday wedding until we found out for $2000 less we could do the Sunday... we went with Sunday.

Friday PM...thats what we were going for in the winter but, got a great deal for a Thursday night in the summer
I dont mind going to a wedding on a Saturday afternoon but, for me to be a bride to get up extra early wasnt going to work for me. JMO

I went with a Friday night for mine. I figured that although it might be a little tougher for some people to get there, I'd rather have that than people wanting to leave early because they have work the next day...but that's just my preference. But then again, a Sunday wedding people wouldn't have a problem getting there. It's a tough choice!!
