Friday PM or Sunday Afternoon

My first post... :)
First, we are still unsure of location. One option is the Westbury Manor.

We can't decide on Friday PM or Sunday afternoon. Ceremony would be outdoors, cocktail and reception indoors in their garden/library room. From a 'guest's' perspective, which would you prefer to attend? Cost about the same.

I would say friday night, only because personally i like friday weddings much better..Sunday im less inclined to party, drink or dance...I just dread work the next day! ..but i think regardless..whoever wants to be there..will be there regardless of the day or time!

I also prefer a night time wedding but there are always people who have trouble getting to Friday night wedding especially if they work in the city,etc.

I went with a Sunday at 5:00 - 11:00 I figure it will be night but not too late.

I'd go with Sunday. It will be easier for you because you will have a few extra days to prepare. Also, friday's are hard for your guests.

I'd prefer a Sunday afternoon. Friday nights are hard for people, and you might find that a lot of people wont come or show up late. I also like Sunday afternoon because its still early enough for people to get home within a reasonable time, and you can have an afterparty afterwards.

Friday! People like to leave work and party Friday! Im having a Friday wedding and when I asked around between Sunday and Friday, everyone told me Friday.

Also, if your having Viennese hour, Id do friday. People tend to leave early on a sunday so they can get to work the next day. Also, with friday weddings people get it over with early and still have the rest of the weekend to enjoy

I have been to two weddings on a Friday night and two on a Sunday. Here's my thoughts...

Friday night weddings: Most people are home from work by 5:00 and if not, I am sure they could get out a little early. Some guest may already be retired and not even have this problem. They will be thinking about partying all night and looking forward to the food and dancing. Like many said, a great way to start the weekend with Saturday to recover. I had a blast at both of my cousins' Friday night weddings.

Sunday afternoon wedding: Just the thought of getting up early on the weekend makes me say 'Ugh'. The Sunday weddings were nice though... but once they were over (around 5pm) it was like 'Ok.... so, now what do you wanna do?'

We are having a Friday night wedding. It is good because people can unwind from the work week and have a good time. Sunday night everyone is worried about work the next day.

My wedding is on a Friday evening. I opted for Friday b/c eveyone has the next day off to relax. I went back and forth about it too, concerned that guests wouldn't attend the ceremony because they have to rush but, if the want to be there they will.

I am leaning towards Friday 7:30pm-1:30am. FH leaning towards Sunday 12:00pm-5:00pm. I told him lets see what this poll says.... Thanks for the responses so far! : )

i say friday - i agree that most sunday weddings i have been to i have definately been less inclined to stay the whole time because of the whole work thing the next day

I chose Friday because a)that's when I am getting married! and b) I hate doing ANYTHING on Sunday! That is my stay in and do nothing day!

This may not be the case all of the time but I was told by a manager at a reception hall I went to that they notice there is a better turnout on Friday weddings than there is on any other day... Including Saturday! He seemed to think that people are more likely to come on time because they are leaving from work whereas on a Saturday or Sunday people are likely to get distracted running errands, getting their hair done, etc...I don't know how true this is... I guess I will find out next May!

I did Friday at 3pm...only a few people complained about taking off of work...i personally don't like Sundays because Monday comes next!

I prefer a Friday wedding too! I just hate the thought of having to go to work the next day and not being able to fully have all the fun i want at the wedding!

Def. Friday night. it's hard to let lose on a sunday wedding knowing that I have work the next day. On top of that FH complains like a little girl that it gets in the way of his 'relaxing' time. Plus its easier for me to get the day off on a Friday than it is to get off on a Monday.
