I am about to book and am getting excited and relieved.... I am looking at the first weekend of June 2012. The price difference based on the guarentee of people for Fri vs. Sat is about 6,000. Is it really worth it for same venue, same food, etc. - just 24 hours later?
I am leaning more towards the Friday...I feel like that 6,000 can go a long way to so many other things....
Are guests really inconvenienced by a Friday night wedding?

Hope planning is going well so far! I say save the 6 grand.. Weddings cost soo much and thats something that can go towards something else like the HONEYMOON for you an your hubby to be which i rather spend the money on lol!!!
whats nice about friday is it does not kill any ones weekend.. everyone still has a nice weekend and most people will take off on friday so your giving them a long weekend! and you can relax during the weekend before leaving for your honeymoon!
do what is best for you! this is your special day! and keep telling you its YOUR & Ross's day! weddings has quickly turn into everyone else!! So enjoy every moment!!! Couldnt be happier for you!!! If you need any advice or help with anything let me know!!!

AWWWW! G! How are ya babes! This site is so damn useful, I love it! I am at the way start of planning...I think the venue picking is the hardest! But, I am very close to closing the deal! I think I am gonna go for the Friday. The STD will give peeps enough notice. And, who doesnt want a reason to take off a Friday at the start of summer?!?

we're doing a friday night on columbus day weekend...it was a lot cheaper this way and since it's a late event I figured most people wouldnt have a problem making to the reception, and the people that want to be at the church will make it so.

I did a Saturday & personally wouldn't have it any other way. Even though it's more money it's more convenient for all involved. However, if you're trying to save some bucks I'd definitely do Friday over Sunday! Regardless if I love the people getting married, it's always a hassle to go to a Sunday wedding. That's just my opinion.

ETA: We had our wedding on a Friday night- late. The ceremony was at 5:00 PM and the reception began at 8:30 PM. It was excellent. Some people couldn't attend the ceremony but that was okay, it was more intimate that way. And everyone got to CH right on time. It was an awesome way to kick off the weekend.
Edited again to add: We had tons of OOT guests- and 90% of them made it!

Def stick with friday night wedding.. do whats right for you and your pocket!!! so many people told me that I prob wouldnt have a good turn out at the church so I shuld prepare myself but to be honest the church was packed and it was the friday of the hurricane and weather was horrible people still made it!!! If they want to be there they will.. soo dont worry about everyone else they will make it happen!!
