Re: friday vs. sunday wedding
I say Friday, I'm getting married on a Friday at 630 and I figured a holiday weekend was best, because everyone gets out early on that day...Labor Day Weekend!
I went to a Sunday wedding recently and everyone left around an hour early, i felt bad.

Re: friday vs. sunday wedding
i prefer Sunday, even if its at night..me and FH and all of his and my friends are the type of people that we'll party till whatever time it is even if I have to go to work the next day. i can do it for one day, not like ill do it all the time. i really hate to even go hang out with my girlfriends on a friday night because im so tired from work, so i couldnt imagine, getting out of work , rushing home, taking a shower, getting dressesd waiting for Fh to get dressed, then to sit in traffic, to go to a wedding, ill be dead tired by the time i get there lol. i would still attend but i would need coffee or something to wake me up so i could party. for a sunday i prefer because i can wake up late, and get my sleep then go party. when i was booking, friday honestly wasnt an option to us because i didnt want to inconvience my family & friends that have to work and i know its hard for alot of people to take off from work, i wanted saturday but it was too much $, so i went with a sunday.

also, just so you know, a lot of people say a holiday weekend alot of people get out of work that friday early, or have that day off, a lot of buisness do regular schedules that day and are either open or dont let employees out, so i wouldnt bank on that.

It's changed. A few years ago when we were pricing my cousin's wedding, Friday was the cheapest day, now it's Thursday, followed by Sunday afternoon, Saturday afternoon, Friday night and of course, Saturday night being the most expensive.

Re: friday vs. sunday wedding
As someone who had her wedding on a Sunday, I recommend a Saturday, even though it is not a choice :)
I guess it also depends on who you invite. We had invited a lot of friends and coworkers, and I would say that many people left early.
My family and DH's (almost all of them) stayed till the end, but there were a ton of people who left early because they had kids, work, had far to travel, etc. I just wish I had taken that into account. If you think it will bother you, do a Saturday afternoon - I think that is cheaper.
OR, just invite close friends and family. They'll at least stay until close to the end. But most people, honestly, will not take off just because it is your wedding. People have to work, esp in today's economy.

Re: friday vs. sunday wedding
i had a sunday and only a few left early and it was only a 15-20 min early which honestly wasn't that bad. No one ditched out too quickly and our reception ended at 10. Many of our closet friends/family had taken off and came to the hotel for the after party. Friday nights are great but the only problem is people have to leave work early to get there on time and sometimes that isn't so bad if you have time or a job that let's you take off. It is how you want your wedding to be = dont' worry people will show and celebrate with you!
