Definately Friday. You will have Sat to recover and then Sunday to go on a Honeymoon. That's what we are doing!

Wow it's a big difference in price.

I am in the same boat as you. I perfer Friday because people can stay later to party rather than leaving my wedding early because they have to go to work the next day.

Maybe you can do the Sunday on a holiday weekend where most people have off?

Re: friday vs. sunday wedding

My wedding is a Sunday evening (6:30-11:30). I picked Sunday because Friday would just seem to chaotic. Everyone has to go to work, rush home get ready, rush to the ceremony/reception all that after working all day and then still have the recetpion for 5-6 hours. It's too long a day. Not to mention rush hour Friday night traffic. Also Friday night would mean we couldn't take any outdoor pics in the daylight. I liked Sunday better because our guests would be able to relax and get ready at their leisure and even though the next day is a work day every one is an adult and will plan accordingly (either going to work late or taking the day off).

we had a sunday afternoon wedding, and it was also a holiday weekend. for us, it was the perfect choice. i've been to friday weddings, and they are great too. if you want a night wedding, a sunday w/ a monday holiday is a great choice.

I prefer Sundays over Fridays. Unfortunetely, because we work in the city and our day ends at 7 teh earliest we have missed many friday weddings because we have a lot of friends getting married (10 weddings last year) and just can't take so many days off with our wedding coming up.

Sunday is cheapest, but Im not too fond of Fri weddings. Ive been to many and the traffic is insane, I was over an hour late . Sat is the best but pricey but not if you get it off peak

Re: friday vs. sunday wedding

I know alot of people say that if you do sunday it has to be early and everybody will leave if not. In 07 just about every wedding I attended that year was on a sunday and they all were late night weddings. Well starting around 7 and ending at midnight. A majority of the guests stayed until the end and DH and I stayed until it ended also, so depends on your guests. Not everybody has a problem with getting home just a little bit late when they have work the next day. Its one day and we just s*cked it up and dealt with it, not a big deal. WE didnt care if we got to bed lets say 1am or anywhere around that and had to wake up early the next day.

I say just do whatever you like best bc as you can tell from this thread or any thread before this that asked the same question, not everybody agrees and we all have a difference of opinions and you cant please everyone. SO no matter what you do, there will be some who like it and some who don't, but oh well. Its your day, you pick the day you like best and as a guest you just s*ck it up, cant expect the bride to sit there and please everybody, its not her job

Personally I prefer Sunday over Friday...both FH and I have jobs that can be unpredictable and we both get stuck at work a lot on Friday evenings!!

that is a good point. I used to get home at 6:30 from work and then would have to get ready real quick, i would HAVE to shower before going to a wedding especially after a 2 hour commute so not like i would just throw something on. SO would depend on how far it was. If it was late start on friday then wouldn't be too bad bc gave more time to get home, get ready, leave and get there, just keep in mind that on fridays there is more traffic. So as long as you would do a late start on a friday it would be fine. 7 or 7:30 for CH would be a bit early for a friday wedding, you have to give ppl time to get there. Yes some ppl can take off but not everybody can.

I'd go with Fri. I would havehad a Friday wedding...but my parents were so concerned with the distance of my RH for our guests (mostly in nassau)...we splurged for the sat

Re: friday vs. sunday wedding

we are doing a sunday on a 3 day weekend, so its kinda like a Saturday.

My concern with either day is people being able to attend, but I know for us sundays were easier than Fridays.

we decided on sunday...we didn't want so many people to have to take Friday off...
so we're having a sunday 1130am ceremony, reception 1-5.. if people choose to take monday off they can but most wont have to.
Also we had wanted to have a little pre-party the evening before so we'll do that on Saturday..

I am having a Friday night wedding. At first I was not too happy about it but it is a LOT cheaper and your guests can recover all weekend.

We went back and forth on this, and we ended up with a Friday night. I had always wanted a Saturday night wedding, so Friday was the closest I could come and stay on track with the budget. I would say go with a Friday night, it will be most like the Sat night wedding you want.

i would say friday so people dont have to get up for work the next day BUT the only thing is that i found myself missing the ceremony on a lot of friday weddings b/c of work when i could not take off

thats exactly how it was for me...wanted a saturday but went with friday for cost reasons...I am not a fan of a sunday wedding. I know I'd personally rather take off on a Friday for a wedding and then have all weekend to recover...
