Friday vs.s Saturday Weddings

Friday vs.s Saturday Weddings

Hey Ladies:

I have decided that i will be having my wedding at Land's End the weekend of March 26th (friday) or March 27 (saturday). Right after i called up Land's End confirming the friday date i placed it as my status on Facebook (BECAUSE I AM EXCITED).

Within 2 minutes my cousin messaged me that she was super excited, but also said she might be late!!! This message freaked me out a bit!! This friday is right before a break for teachers (i am a teacher also), i understand it is hard to get the day off, but i thought people would take the extra step to make sure they make the church.

Should i have it on a saturday??? Any negative feelings towards friday weddings?

As a teacher, I have to agree: It is VERY difficult to get the day off before a weekend. It might be easier to do the saturday.

However, first check with the important people- the ones that you feel MUST be there- as long as they can make it then keep it for friday. After all, it is your wedding!

I don't have negative feelings towards Friday weddings, but I don't always make the church. Depending how close I am to the bride/groom, I decide if I want to take the day off. I only get 10 days per year so I must choose wisely!!

i think saturday is easier for the general population. (the 9-5ers)
but its also usually a little more expensive than friday night weddings. i personally scheduled my wedding for saturday because i want to make sure all my out-of-towners arent inconvenienced.

you just have to remember with a friday wedding most people will not come to the church but the important people of course will make sure they are there. if you want to have a packed ceromony make it on a saturday

It is hard for all guests to make a friday church ceremony....but those closest to you have plenty of advance notice and Im sure they'll do what they have to do to be there

i was originally against a friday night wedding because I felt rude asking people to take off work/leave early. With the price, I decided that i would go with a Friday...the people who matter the most will be there.

I have also heard people say they like the friday night weddings because they have saturday to recover and then still have sunday to get things done...it doesnt kill the whole weekend.

I think you just have to decide what you can afford and what works best for the people that you want there the most.

Friday weddings are hard for a lot of people. I work a 9-5 job. If I have a wedding on a Friday, unfortunately, I don't always go to the church. Sometimes it's just too hard to make it. That being said, if it's family, I ALWAYS make it to the church. Fridays are also a little difficult because sometimes by the end of the week, I'm just tired.

However, Saturdays are definitely more expensive!

almost everyone i know prefer friday weddings over any other day.

A big reason for the friday wedding was because i wanted to start the reception around 6. I am getting married in late march, and i wanted to make sure the guests could get a glimpse of the water at Lands end.

you are getting married the day before me, are you getting married in a catholic church? if you are just be aware that it is lent and you can't eat meat - you might have some people complain about that.

on the other hand, being a teacher myself, i would prefer a saturday night wedding - it is hard to get the day off before a break. if you want a lot of people at the ceremony, then do a sat..

i personally prefer saturday weddings for many reasons
1. people dont have to leave work early or take off
2. it gives OOT's time to get to where yo uare
3. it feels more like a party day to me

i know its more expensive but if you want more people to be able to be at your church and what not i would say saturday will give you a better chance of making that happen. some people just cant take off and if the lack of their prescence will bother you then perhaps saturday is the better way to go

My friend got married on a Friday on 34th street in NYC!!!

I took off from work, FH took off from work......

And I still missed the entire ceremony (it was 30 min) b/c of parking regulations M-F, traffic was SOO BAD rush hour on a friday, and I turned on a certain block and there was a delivery truck for like 15 min blocking traffic.

It was a nightmare and the worst part was I missed the whole thing!

So I agree with other posters that Friday unless its later like 7 o clock, I would prefer Saturday. JMO.

Can you start your reception on Saturday around 6?
I hear you about the waterviews...that is why we chose a Sunday for ours...I am also a teacher and Fridays are definitely hard as far as going to an afternoon ceremony. We have a wedding at the end of January on a Friday (a friend who I teach with) and I know me and several other colleagues can't take off. I feel bad because I don't want to be one of those people that only goes to the reception but in this case, I feel as if I have no choice I know LE is more expensive for a Saturday than a Friday though...but if price is not a factor than I would go with the Saturday because the time of the ceremony won't interfere with your guests' ability to go.

I think it depends on your budget. If you can afford a Saturday wedding and are willing to pay extra go for it. But not everyone will be able to make it to the church because it is hard for some people to take the day off.

If the important people will make it go for Friday.

i personally prefer saturday weddings.

that said, mine is on a friday because of the price difference - i couldn't justify $30 more per person because of one day difference.

i am giving my guests plenty of notice (over 1 year) and hope they would plan to come - just as i have done for them

It'd probably be a lot easier for people who are teachers to go to a Saturday wedding because I'm sure most of them won't be able to get off or leave early on a friday.

i think for a majoirty of 9-5 working people saturday might be easier. I know in my field of work its hard to take a friday off or take a half day...So for someone like me who would work a full day, get home at 5/530, shower, get ready and rush like crazy, I probably wouldnt be ready to leave my house until about 7 at night earliest...But what matters the most for your wedding is if the important people in your life are able to make it on time for a friday night, not coworkers etc...do whast best for your family and BP.
