friend's crazy registry!

A friend of mine from college is getting married in November in Washington DC. Unfortunately, I can't make it to the wedding, so I decided to check out her registry to send her a nice gift instead of just sending a check. Anyway, I went to her wedding channel website to check out her registry, and the only place she is registered at is Tiffany's! She has a set of silverware on there where EACH PIECE is $90! Yup, thats $90 for one frickin butter knife! Then she registers for not one, but TWO sets of 20 piece china! For like $200 per plate! First of all, who needs 40 pieces of china?!? Do you really have that many people over at one time?
Obviously I can't afford much off of there on my grad student stipend. FH was joking and said we should just buy her one butterknife and fed ex it to her

I just think its so crazy to only register at a really expensive place for REALLY expensive stuff. Is it just me, or is that weird??

That's nuts...how can someone expect that everyone can afford that stuff. I also wouldn't expect that every guest coming to my Shower is going to spend that much on me. I honestly would stray from the registry and maybe get her something nice from Things Remembers possibly etched with her wedding date and/or names monogram????

I don't think it's weird I think it's inconsiderate We've been invited to weddings w/ registries like that, and I felt like I was put in an uncomfortable position, to spend more than I panned on spending.

** Tiffany has champagane flutes & wine glasses that cost $25 each, if you wanna send somthing off the registry. good luck

not only is it crazy it's rude.
I have things on my registry for under $5 because I know my nieces and nephew like to buy their own gifts with allowance money.

I felt the same way with the wedding we were invited too, & sent a PAIR of flutes,

I think that's very inconsiderate of her...and I don't think that makes too much sense economically either! I don't think the food is gonna taste better whether you eat it on a $200 plate or a $20 one, but to each his own I guess... Oh yeah, and If I were you, i'd just stick with the check....I don't know about you, but I couldn't bring myself to spend $200 on a plate, especially when I have my OWN wedding coming up, lol! I'd just give her the money, and let her spend it the way she wants to...if she wants to use it to buy a plate ,go ahead!

Sometimes not all the registeries show up on there. I know some people that registed at stores and it wasn't on there. Also try searching on the knot. some other places might show up that she registered at.

that's true....I know macys doesn't usually show up so you should probably check to see if she has a registry there..
