Does you FH have any friends that you just DO NOT LIKE.
FH kind of lost touch with most of his 'friends' after we moved in to the new house. His one friend tried to convince him that I had gotten pregnant to 'trap' him. He also used to take him out to clubs and point out other 'hot chicks' that FH could 'bang' if he were still single.
Now I totally trust Rob, but I cannot stand this friend. And apparently he has managed to track us down again. I heard FH on the phone with him the other night telling him 'Dude, I have 2 kids and a house now... I just don't DO stuff like that anymore!' So it is pretty evident the *** is still an ***.
FH asked if we can have this idiot over for dinner next week. I don't want to ... but I feel like I have to because he is like the only friend he still has from years ago. I know dinner will lead to... 'Hey let's go to the pub and play pool....'
What would YOU do?

Re: Friends of the Groom
Ohhh my FH has a few of those... we just don't see eye to eye. It is totally frustrating sometimes but what we do is if FH wants to see those friends he either goes out with them or over to one of their places or he has them over our place when I'm at work or at class or out with my girlfriends. We also got a puppy a couple months ago so he'll pick a night to spend with his friends and I'll chill with the pup and then I get a night. Ehh, it's not the best but it works... go out to dinner with your girlfriends that night!

Re: Friends of the Groom
I don't necessarily care about him going out to play pool with him... but I don't like the idea of cooking for this ***. I don't really want him in my HOUSE.

I don't blame you. Talk to FH... maybe he'll go to his place or something. You think FH will ask this guy to be in the wedding party??

HELL NO! We only have a BM and a MOH. BM is already picked by him (a guy who happens to be my best friend since childhood!).
I asked FH if he wouldn't mind just GOING somewhere with this idiot... but the idiot wants to bring his jerkface wife. So FH asked if I would cook so he can show them our new house, yard, kids, etc....

Re: Friends of the Groom
YES!!! there is this one group of friends that my FH has known since like birth - and they are sooo totally different but he still stays friends with them. They are older than him but so immature its ridiculous and to top it off one of them is a girl that is just the epitome of Skank (she is really ugly and dirty so i have nothing to worry about) but i swear she has a crush on FH - we got in an argument cuz i dont want to invite them to the wedding because she was extremely disrespectful to my parents at our e-party

Well in that case he owes you BIG !! At least his reasoning is that he wants to show off to this idiot what a wonderful life he has... and what a wonderful future wife!!

Re: Friends of the Groom
If it were me, I probably would invite them over. Maybe after all this time, your FH will see that this person ISN'T someone he'd want to be friends with at this point in his life. And if not, it's just one night! JMO
Yeah, this guy is an @ss but for FH's sake you have to suck it up. You said you heard him say he's not into stuff like that anymore so if they go to a pub and play pool I doubt you have to worry.
I know, the situation is not you worrying. It's you hating this guy and then having to cook for him and having him in your home. If that happens it almost like he won. That's human nature.
Or, it has been many years since you have seen this guy so give him a chance. Maybe when he does come over and see that you do have the house and two kids he will realize that things really have changed.
This guy is married? So let them come over. Why is his wife a jerkface? Have you met her? If not, she may turn out to be a lovely person.
By the way...Love the name jerkface!

Re: Friends of the Groom
His wife IS a jerkface. She slept with FH before she started dating his friend. She flirts with FH ALL THE TIME... I am not worried about it - he says she has hairy nipples and was really just a fling - but it is RUDE. Plus she tried to set him up. AFTER our first son was born! AFTER we were living together!! WHILE I was pregnant with our second child! He went to their house and I didn't want to go. She invited a 'friend' and Rob said she kept trying to tell him how much he had in common with her friend and it was VERY clear she was trying to make a match. She even gave him her friend's number and told him he should call her sometime while I am 'incapacitated'. Grrrr....
Now I get to COOK for her? Blah.

Re: Friends of the Groom
FH definitely has a friend or 2 or 3 that I dont really care for. BUT out of the simple fact that they are his friends I deal with them. After reading all the things that this friend and his significant other have done I wouldnt cook for either one! I would NOT let them in my house!!! Does FH know that you feel this way? I dont understand how he could want them to be at your house with all that cr@p

Re: Friends of the Groom
Ew no way! If I just didn't like the friend I guess I would suck it up but after hearing about the wife I would never ever cook them dinner in a million years. I think FH should understand that...

Re: Friends of the Groom
My FH has this friend that I used to be best friends with in HS and he is the one who introduced me and my FH. Then one night 2 years ago he and his FI came over and watched a jets game at my house, he got BOMBED and she got mad. When they left she pulled out of my driveway and SMASHED into the car across the street but never told me!!! Then the next day we hung out with them at stupid medieval Times and they still didn't tell me. My uncle called my cell and asked me what happened and I had no idea what he was talking about, so I asked the friend and his FI and they DENIED it!!!! They LIED to me FACE and I knew it was true!! I asked FH and he lied to me too!!! When I got home my grandma was SO upset because the people were going to sue her claiming SHE hit the car!!! I freaked and called my FH and told him it was over if he didn't get money from his friend to fix the car. It ended up costing him $900 but I don't care. How dare you lie to me and have the blame fall on my grandma!!! We are on odd terms now, I hate him and her still and don't want them to come to the wedding at all but FH asked him to be one of his GM. Awesome! I hate it when he hangs out with him but I don't want to be 'that wife' so I let him, he knows it bothers me though and barely ever hangs out with him, so I know what you are talking about TOTALLY!!

Re: Friends of the Groom
I know its tough, but since you trust your FH, and you did hear him say stuff like he did over the phone, then is there really any harm in it? JMO
I know that FH has some friends (our GM) that take him out to the clubs and whatnot for guys night out and do the same thing. I trust Evan completely though and know that I have nothing to worry about. HTH
