Now that you have kids, do you feel that you still have good friendships with your friends? I feel that I have lost numerous friends over the years, but not sure why.....The hardest thing I have right now is finding new friends.....Does anyone else have this? Any ideas?

Re: Friendships
I dont have children yet, but I do feel that my friendships have changed since I got pregnant. A lot of it has to do with the fact that what they are doing, I cannot take part in... We're just at different points in our lives right now. I only hope that once the baby is born, I'll be able to rekindle those friendships.
ETA - as far as meeting new people. Through my pregnancy I have come closer to other woman who are also expecting, like from my lamaze class and baby care... I was hoping once the baby is born, to take part in different baby classes would help me to find people who are having similar experiences to mine.. Like a mommy and me. Have you been to any thing like that?

Re: Friendships
I did the mommy and me classes when the kids were younger....made a few friends....but all gone already...My kids are older 7 and 4....I thought with my daughter being in school I would make new friends but everyone seems to have their circle of friends already and don't want any new ones....Also I am younger than most of the other moms (I'll be 32) so they don't really give me the time of day.
I am glad I have found LIW to chat with all of you guys....At least that is a start

Re: Friendships
My single friends call from time to time, but my bestfriend is single and has always remained a constant in my life. My closest friends now are my daughter', friend's mothers, I could not survive without them! We can relate to eachother, ask for opinions, and provide so much support to eachother.

Re: Friendships
Once I got PG with my son - I found out quickly who my real friends are - I have very few friends now - Even my closest friends - the relationship changes - they didn't have kids at the time - we barely spoke - but now that they are having kids - there seems to be more in common now.

Re: Friendships
I had two friends who I was always close with. One had children and the other didn't. The one with children would always invite me to do things with her and her kids. Once I had my baby, both friends just disappeared. They NEVER even came to see my daughter so I wrote them off and don't want to even try to see what their problem is. They turned out NOT to be good friends. And its their loss. They're missing out on one wonderful little girl.

Re: Friendships
I'm so sorry you ladies are having these experiences w/your friends I'm very lucky in the fact that the friends I've had are the friends I still have (and have had for 15 years or more)..not that we are always on top of calling or getting together but I know they are always there for me and visa-versa.
Anyone looking for a friend, I'm always here to make new ones

Re: Friendships
FH and I had our 1st daughter when we were teenagers and we lost sooo many friends because we weren't able to hang out and do normal 'teenage' things anymore.
But we gained a lot of respect from others because we took our responsibility of being young parents very seriously.
