Frustrated, stressed, worried, freaking out!
So I've been going to try on wedding gowns lately. I've been to three places already and tried on at least 15 dresses at each place and I can't seem to find THE one. I'm stressed and worrying that I will never be able to find the one I truly love and will have to settle for a dress that is just mediocre. I have one more place to check out next week and if I don't find something there, I don't know what I'm going to do (I'm trying to avoid going into NYC for a dress as much as I can). It seems like every dress I try on, I love parts of the dress but hate other parts of it. Gah. How many dresses did you ladies try on before you found the one? What am I going to do if I don't ever find the one I truly love?

Oh no! Don't get stressed out! Just breathe, you will find the one!I haven't started looking yet but have you thought about maybe doing a custom dress? I have no idea how much that would run but maybe the seamstress can work with you..

That has crossed my mind. I'm just afraid it's going to be really expensive.I didn't think it was going to be so hard to find an elegant fit and flare dress with no ruffles or lace...

I know a girl (a friend of a friend), who got a custom dress made. She's in the fashion industry, so she knew a seamstress, but she said that even if she hadn't, it wasn't nearly as expensive as she thought. Depending on the material you like and the style you want (more or less intricate details), the most expensive part is the labor. It's worth it to look into how much it would cost.I haven't been shopping yet, but I went with my FSIL when she was looking for her dress. We went in Manhattan, and to be perfectly honest, as much as I absolutely despise going into the city, it was wonderful. We went to like 5 salons, and she must have tried on like 40 dresses, just in one day. And there's a lot of smaller boutiques that have dresses that you're not going to find in any big salon. It may be worth a shot.
Sorry so long, but hope this helped!!

**2013er crashing**The good news is you have time on your side. Being that you are still 15 months out you have TONS of time to take to shop around to your hearts content. I shopped at least 10 bridal salons before making my final decision (probably over 100 dresses, I stopped couting). I found early on in the process I liked going to the smaller salons that let me look thru all the dresses myself and let me pick which ones to try on (instead of having a consultant pull dresses for you). This helped me see all the styles that were out there and really hone in on what was working best for me. I finally said yes at Bridal Reflections in Massapequa and have had great expreiences both there and the Carle Place location. Both are worth checking out for sure and I would avoid going on a weekend if you can since the consultants have more time to spend on you during the week. Good luck, you will find your dress and will by no means have to settle for something 'OK'.

Thank you for the help, ladies! I guess I'm just freaking out even more because when I went to try on dresses at one place, the consultant told me that it would take almost a year for that particular designer to make the dress... I know most designers don't require that much time but one of the dresses that is on my 'maybe' list is made by that designer so I would have to make my decision pretty quickly...Welcome New Vendors
