Frustrated with FH

Original post by Melissa313

last night FH and I were talking about tuxes for our very formal wedding. with never having gone to look at tuxes he tells me he is not going to wear a bow tie. and I asked him just to keep an open mind, its a formal wedding lets see how things look when we get there. he still refused. I'm really frustrated because he is hating something he has never worn. I told him that when I went wedding dress shopping I wanted to wear a white dress, upon trying one on realized that I look horrible!!!! so I went with Ivory. and all I want from FH is for him to say that if he looks horrible that he will consider other options, and he wont even do that...... chances are that I will like what ever he picks I've seen pics with ties I kinda like them. so its not that I want him to wear a bow tie, I just don't want him to hate something he hasn't seen. I know it sounds like a silly thing to be frustrated over but he does this a lot.

Just wait till we are ready to get a dog.... he says German Shepard or nothing.... with that choice I'm voting for nothing I want a big dog but I'm not a big fan of German Shepards. (there are reasons) But I'm not gonna fight that battle before I have to

Here's a Youtube tutorial on how to tie a windsor knot for those of you that are wondering lol

http://www.videojug.com/film/how-to-tie-a-tie-using-a-full-windsor-knot

the people at the tux shop said they would even do all the ties for the guys in a windsor knot, so that was nice. My dad wears it in a windsor knot alot so if any of the guys do need help he'll do it.

this is nothing.. FH keeps insisting that he is going to wear the blue ruffled tux and shirt from Dumb and dumber hahahhaa

dont stress this.. whatever he decides will be fine.. both looks are formal looking

I can understand your fustrations - my FH was the same way but kinda reversed- he wanted to wear a bow tie whereas I would have preferred a straight tie- after fighting about it he agreed to try both and then we'd make a decision to do what he felt more confortable with.

I ended up being wrong- which I admit- he looked better and felt better in a regular bow tie- so I relented and I'm letting him wear it for our wedding.

Ask FH if he can just try both and then decide what he feels better with- also it doesn't mean that a straight tie is less formal than a bow tie- imo it's just the same line of formality.... also you can still have the other guys wear a bow tie even if FH is wearing a straight tie.

I hope it works out for you

It is his day as well, no offense... You woldn't want him tell you what to wear, you know! I'am sure you will work it out with him.

yeah I gotta say I get FH on this one. I HATE bow ties and I think if your FH feels more comfortable wearing a tie...let him. He's got to be happy with how he looks on that day or he's gonna look back at photos and hate them.

My FH is insisting the same thing. He said that he wants it to be blue ruffles to bring out his blue eyes!!!!!
My Dad is insisting on wearing a denim tux!!!

I have decided not to freak out over this because they haven't even gone to look. I kow once they are all there and they see what I have 'Suggested' they will all love it and I'll get my way in the end!!!

I wouldn't fret until he actually goes to try them on. And if he feels and looks better in a straight tie, then so be it!!!

Re: Frustrated with FH

im not a fan of bowties myself. but i get its not the bowtie that is upsetting you.

i've come to learn to pick my battles with FH. he tends to dismiss things and i used to get so frustrated.. but now i pick and choose which things to continue with and which ones to let go.

the same way we all have an ideal wedding vision, guys have them too. if he doesn't like bowties and you dont care either way - its not worth fighting over...

men are thick as, well, you know... just have to roll with the punches. lol
