Full Wine Bottles as favors

Hi Ladies,
I need desperate help. I am thinking of giving full size bottles of wines but I am not sure which brand I should give that's good but not too expensive and also where should I go to buy it? Any wholesale places??? Do I give one per couple or one per person?

Thank you!

We gave 1 bottle per couple.

We went with Pindar Winter White, after going to their vineyard over the summer and tasting all their wines ... it was our favorite of their varieties. And we liked the idea of giving wine from a local LI vineyard.

However, we did not buy it from their vineyard ... I think you can get better prices buying from the liquor stores.

I'm pretty sure the regular price is $7.99, most liquor stores will only give you 10% off the price as a case discount.

We went to Bottles & Cases in Huntington, and got it for I think $4.99 a bottle.

ETA: They keep a lot of wines in stock in high quantities .... we were able to just walk in & walk out with it the week of the wedding ... no waiting!

We're doing wine bottle favors as well and I'll bump the post with all the information on it that I have.

We went to Cappy's in Valley Stream for the wine, we chose a brand called Crane Lake- it turned out to be like $350.00 for 86 bottles and we're doing 1 per couple.

Give me a sec to find my post on it and I'll add the link to it in this post.

Edit: Here's the link to all the information- FH wasn't willing to go to Trader Joe's so we went with Cappy's- they were great in helping us and our order came in like two weeks!

Get the $2.99 wine from Trader Joe's. It's really good wine for being that cheap. You might be able to get it by the case cheaper. Not sure if they have Trader Joe's out on LI, but they have one in Union Square.

Its in Union Square, I dont believe there are any on LI that sell wine. Its worth the trip though!!! Good Luck I wanna come to your wedding

That was my only problem was that FH didn't want to take the trip into the city for it - but we spent about $3.75 per bottle and I am sure it's just as nice.

IMO doing a full size bottle one per couple would work out nicely. That is such a great idea for a favor

Yes, that is true. It's not even attached to Trader Joes, it's a Trader Joe's wine shop. Their 2 buck chuck is actually $3 because of the rent. Every other Trader Joes that sells wine (one in Westfield, NJ) has it for $2.

Re: Full Wine Bottles as favors

My dad has been buying Trader Joe's 2-Buck Chuck wine for years in the caseloads. He always went to New Jersey to get it because for the longest time, that was the only place that had it. Everyone who has tasted the wine always thought it was so good, and was surprised that it was so cheap.

It is true that only the Union Square store sells the wine in NY. I've heard there's some weird law about why they can't sell it in the Trader Joe stores on Long Island. The one in the city supposedly found some sort of a loophole to get around it, and that's why the wine part is sort of a shop next to it rather than right inside the Trader Joe's in the city.

I'd recommend checking out the Union Square store, or maybe taking a ride to Jersey one weekend and getting it there. (It might actually be easier than trying to drive to the city and find parking). If you're able to get the TJ wine, I'd recommend doing a bottle each person. That's what we're going to try to do.
