Most of you have seen my makeup trial and know I am wearing red lipstick. She even put a pretty gloss on top of the lips to give more shine. I was just thinking what happens when we kiss after the priest says 'You may now kiss your bride?' Is FH going to have a huge red mark on his lips? I want to give him a great kiss and not a peck up there. What am I going to do? I am so crazy. 10 months to go and this is what I am worrying about? I don't even have a dress yet.

I was wondering the same thing. Let me know once you get an answer. Hey maybe you should post this on the Newlywed board.

that's too funny that you're worrying about the kiss. if the artist does a good job, i don't think he should have the lipstick on his lips after the first kiss.

you can pat it will powder to keep it from comming off, but that would defeat the purpose of the gloss.... maybe tone it down for the ceremony and then apply the full amount when before pics?

That's a really good suggestion. I will do that.
I have also seen those lipsticks that supposedly don't come off for 12 hours. I will have to look into that.

You are so funny... it is a good question though - i'm wearing alight color so i won't have that problem - maybe you shouldn't wera the gloss - it might add to the smudging...but it does look good. This is a tuffy..
you might just have to give him a light kiss and save the big kiss for later that night

I think your lipgloss tones down a bit during the ceremony and you can do touch ups afterwards!

You made me chuckle. FI HATES when I wear gloss. He cringes like a child and tells me it's 'icky.' I wonder if he'd kiss me at the ceremony if I was wearing gloss.
Okay, back to your question: I'd worry about the same thing. Did the makeup artist use a 12 hour lipstick? All of those come with a gloss-like top coat because of how dry the actual color is. If that's the case, you have no need to worry.
I'll give you a warning about the 12 hour lipcolor. I've tried 5 different ones and find them horribly drying. I wear makeup on a daily basis and found the lasting lipsticks so uncomfortable.
Talk to your makeup artist and mention your concern.
My suggestion is similar to one offered higher up; use just the lipstick for the ceremony and then apply the gloss later (or toss the gloss altogether).

Definately try a long wear lipstick. MAC makes one :) if you apply it the way you are supposed to, it wont move. only the clear top coat will come off. but at least he wont look red.

I have used the colorstay line and although they do not come off (slept in one red color after a LONG night out and woke up with it still on) they DRY OUT YOUR LIPS. I now use medicated lip balm after wearing the color stay line for what is obviously far to long. I rarely wear make up anymore but when I do it's MAC clear lip gloss nowadays.
I likely will go back to a colorstay for the wedding day though. I have to take it off with moisturizer - and that is with more rubbing than normal to just get lipstick off.

Re: Funny lipstick question....mwwwwuah!
I use CoverGirl Outlast lipstick every day. It's awesome! When you put the color on, let it dry for a minute and then put the clear gloss on. I put it on every morning at 6 and it's still on (almost perfectly) at 10 at night when I take it off (I use baby oil - cheap and works great).
I plan to bring this lipstick to my makeup person for my trial and wedding. Many of my friends have asked what lipstick I use, and now they use it too.
Hope this helps!

Wow. Thanks for all the tips ladies. I need to look into a long lasting lipstick or ask Jillian what she thinks or if she has one. Thanks!
