funny things you've seen on registries

Okay, this is NOT meant to attack anyone who may have any of these things on their registries... but I was curious to know if anyone else has found some really funny things on registries.

I'll even start with our OWN registry -- b/c FH scanned a $35 mortar and pestal and Crate & Barrel as a joke - and I now refuse to take it off! We also have a wine fridge on there we're sure we won't get -- and I'm sure many find that strange.

I was just looking at a few registries for OOT people we know who are getting married very soon. They registered for 8 tablecloths -- all the same size and color.

I've also seen a couple registered for 4 complete bedding sets at two different stores (nope, no kids and no house - just a 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom apartment with no plans to move - and they still live in that apartment!) Nothing wrong with registering at more than 1 store, but I guess they plan to change the look of their bedroom often!

My favorite, though, was a $79 (yes $79) single pillar candle I found on someone's registry! Just a plain white pillar candle - for $79!

I sooooooooo deserve to get the mortar and pestle as a wedding gift from someone after starting this post!

ETA - But I do mean for this to be light-hearted and not an attack. I'm sure many people would laugh at our own registry!

Oh, I had a friend register for a $2800 massage chair. I have also had another friend register for steak knives that you put at a place setting (not the type you actually use to carve meat) were $95 per knife.

My cousin registered for a hair dryer, curling iron, Homer Simpson toys, a punching bag and an air compressor.

I think people sometimes get carried away with the whole 'wish list' mentality.

I saw a post on here about someone's friend who registered for 75 bath towels, because she and FH each use 3 towels per day, and they don't want to have to do laundry all the time. Wait until that couple has kids!!

They do know that you can use a towel for more than one day, right?!

ok, the toiletry items are pretty funny.... the candle and massage chair are just obscene

I'm a total foodie, so I find the motor and pestle to be completely reasonable If it's made of lavarock, think of the guacamole you can make But, there isn't one on my registry, becuase I of course already have one!


the one guilty pleasure item I put on the registry which I've always wanted is 2 of these coffee cups and matching breakfast plates / saucers.... the are $35 per cup/saucer...

We're totally in the same boat!!! Although, we did only register for crystal wine glasses b/c we already have a ton of white and red ones for everyday... but other than that, there's barware, etc. No idea where we'll put it in our apartment after the wedding, though!

Three towels a day?!?
The only thing that's coming to mind is that for one friend I waited until the last minute and the only thing left was a tall giraffe statue. I guess she was planning a safari theme, but I just couldn't bring myself to walk in with it. She got a gift certificate instead.

I'm hoping they thought they were registering for napkins when they did this!!!

We had a popcorn maker on our registry for awhile, DH is a popcorn freak!!! My friends thought I was nuts!

I've had friends register for expensive large screen tvs and playstations and whatnot.

If you're having second thoughts about all the glasses, change it now, before people buy it... Add some extra bedroom / bathroom stuff...

or embrace the bartender within, and tack on a mojito pestle

I was just laughing at a friend of mine's registry. She must have let her FH get a hold of the scanner because there was a basketball, football, boardgames and a Nintendo Wii on there.

I'll fess up too. We do have a toothbrush on our registry, but it's one of those expensive ultrasonic ones that my dentist keeps telling me I need to buy. When my FH saw me scan that he decided that we needed to add toothpaste to the registry. Yes, a single tube of toothpaste!! And, he won't let me delete it.

I really hate crushing herbs myself....everytime I make something with dried rosemary I wish for one of those so that I didn't have to be poked by herbs with sharp edges.....

my friend and i laughed for months about something our other friend put on her registry - it was a banana hammock for ripening fruit. i don't know what was funnier - the picture of the bananas 'relaxing' in the hammock or the fact that 'banana hammock' is an excellent slang term for a Speedo!
