funny things you've seen on registries

Original post by Kara and Todd

Okay, this is NOT meant to attack anyone who may have any of these things on their registries... but I was curious to know if anyone else has found some really funny things on registries.

I'll even start with our OWN registry -- b/c FH scanned a $35 mortar and pestal and Crate & Barrel as a joke - and I now refuse to take it off! We also have a wine fridge on there we're sure we won't get -- and I'm sure many find that strange.

I was just looking at a few registries for OOT people we know who are getting married very soon. They registered for 8 tablecloths -- all the same size and color.

I've also seen a couple registered for 4 complete bedding sets at two different stores (nope, no kids and no house - just a 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom apartment with no plans to move - and they still live in that apartment!) Nothing wrong with registering at more than 1 store, but I guess they plan to change the look of their bedroom often!

My favorite, though, was a $79 (yes $79) single pillar candle I found on someone's registry! Just a plain white pillar candle - for $79!

I sooooooooo deserve to get the mortar and pestle as a wedding gift from someone after starting this post!

ETA - But I do mean for this to be light-hearted and not an attack. I'm sure many people would laugh at our own registry!

We put down a wine refrigerator on our registry too--partly because FH wants one, but also to see if anyone would even get it for us.

I know someone who put on 3 percolators--all the same size on her registry.

I think some of our friends might actually get it for us. We're REALLY, really into wine -- so those that know us 'get it' -- it's the ones who may not know us so well who might be a tad bit confused!

I have a feeling we'll get ours too, but judging from our registry we look like lushes with the wine refrigerator and all this drink stuff. We got really tired registering and had made a bee-line to the refrigerator and then started on the first floor where all the glasses are....

If you're having second thoughts about all the glasses, change it now, before people buy it... Add some extra bedroom / bathroom stuff...

or embrace the bartender within, and tack on a mojito pestle

I am totally keeping the glasses, bu we're going back to add some stuff....and I am seriously considering the mojito pestle

my friend and i laughed for months about something our other friend put on her registry - it was a banana hammock for ripening fruit. i don't know what was funnier - the picture of the bananas 'relaxing' in the hammock or the fact that 'banana hammock' is an excellent slang term for a Speedo!

Everytime I hear banana hammock, I giggle

I was just laughing at a friend of mine's registry. She must have let her FH get a hold of the scanner because there was a basketball, football, boardgames and a Nintendo Wii on there.

That's great!! We actually have a Wii. The boxing game is GREAT for excersizing your arms!! Haha

I'll fess up too. We do have a toothbrush on our registry, but it's one of those expensive ultrasonic ones that my dentist keeps telling me I need to buy. When my FH saw me scan that he decided that we needed to add toothpaste to the registry. Yes, a single tube of toothpaste!! And, he won't let me delete it.

FH wanted to register for toothbrushes like that and I told him 'who the h ell registers for a freakin toothbrush?, We can't do that!!'

I feel pretty dumb now. Haha...maybe we'll go back to add it.....he really wanted it and now I feel bad....

would it be bad if i said this post reminded me to add a mortar and pestle to my registry??

I really hate crushing herbs myself....everytime I make something with dried rosemary I wish for one of those so that I didn't have to be poked by herbs with sharp edges.....

Wait until after my shower -- I may have one for you!

I told FH that if we get it, it's going out to the barn. We have horses and right now the only use we have for a mortar and peslte is crushing any horse supplements / medications!

LOL, we have that exact same hammock. FH came home from BBB with it one day!

I put a $300 AeroBed air matress on our registry. First off, we don't need much at this point after living together for almost 2 years, and I really want one for when guests stay over... Not that I'm expecting to get it.

I think the oddest thing on mine is a Tortillia Warmer (from one of my sans FH trips)

I love mexican food so I thought that that would be appropriate....i assume other people (except my mom who shares my love of mexican) will probably be like ***??

I want to put an ultrasonic jewelry cleaner on my registry, but I cannot bring myself to do it. I feel like it's a personal item just for me (not FH) and I should just buy it myself if I really want it that bad!

I LOVE that you put this on here. I saw that while I was registering and must have emailed it to all my friends. Even at 27 I'm still 16 at heart

ETA - FH actually put the Fill 'Er Up™ Gas Pump Liquor Dispenser on our registry. I can't imagine what our families are going to think.

I put an aerobed on my registry too. We have a 1bedroom apartment now and are constantly borrowing the in-laws whenever my friends or family from out of state come visit.

We did that too and got it for the engagement party. our friends that crash at our apt on the floor all the time bought it, go figure.

I thought about that too, but FH got something similar x-mas time.

My registry was all sorts of random. The man showing me how to use the gun scanned a peanutbutter cup to show me how to work the gun then he said to delete scan this barcode and the item again and then he scanned the peanutbutter cup again. I went with my friend to register and she scanned toilet paper as a joke then deleted it. Turns out the delete barcode didn't work I was registered for toilet paper and peanutbutter cups.
