funny things you've seen on registries

Original post by Kara and Todd

Okay, this is NOT meant to attack anyone who may have any of these things on their registries... but I was curious to know if anyone else has found some really funny things on registries.

I'll even start with our OWN registry -- b/c FH scanned a $35 mortar and pestal and Crate & Barrel as a joke - and I now refuse to take it off! We also have a wine fridge on there we're sure we won't get -- and I'm sure many find that strange.

I was just looking at a few registries for OOT people we know who are getting married very soon. They registered for 8 tablecloths -- all the same size and color.

I've also seen a couple registered for 4 complete bedding sets at two different stores (nope, no kids and no house - just a 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom apartment with no plans to move - and they still live in that apartment!) Nothing wrong with registering at more than 1 store, but I guess they plan to change the look of their bedroom often!

My favorite, though, was a $79 (yes $79) single pillar candle I found on someone's registry! Just a plain white pillar candle - for $79!

I sooooooooo deserve to get the mortar and pestle as a wedding gift from someone after starting this post!

ETA - But I do mean for this to be light-hearted and not an attack. I'm sure many people would laugh at our own registry!

And my friend put a couch!!!

People list things like couches because after the wedding you can often get a deal--a discount, sometimes--on the items that weren't bought. You don't expect the couch, but you can then buy it afterwards for cheaper. Or you can return items for credit and use them towards the couch. Or, you never know, a bunch of people might chip in and buy the couch.

They are from Cali and were only living in NY temporarily, so they really were looking for someone to buy the couch! They didn't get it so they went to Ikea! They had no intention of using a completion program.

Re: funny things you've seen on registries

The FIRST thing I registered for was a BUG VACCUUM!!
I am SO afraid of bugs- that that's even how we got engaged!!
FH pretended he had a giant bug in a napkin (but it was my ring) and he was chasing me out the door while I was screaming my head off haha

So, a $35 big vaccuum was perfect! It has a loooong handle so you don't have to go near those horrible things, and it ***** them up and squashes them to pieces
(sorry to any of you who don't like to squash bugs )
I'm sure no one will buy it though!

I put a pink iPod shuffle on mine, then I felt guilty and took it off. And I put a Roomba on there, just because I'd love to see what happens when Agatha--that's Agatha in the picture--meets her nemesis, the vacuum that's HER size. (She hates the big vacuum with a burning fiery passion.) I don't think anyone's actually going to buy the Roomba.

We registered for a Roomba too! Actually, FH registered for the Roomba and everyday he asks me to check the registry to see if anyone bought it. So far, no one has.

I just mentioned this thread to him and he wants to add a banana hammock to our registry. I hope he's talking about the kind with fruit.

Boys LOVE those scanners especially if they look like guns.

This was the only way I got DH to BBB to register, Thank Goodness they make them like a gun!

I just got a fabulous idea from you ladies. We just bought a house last week and need a dining room set. I saw one at Macys furniture I loved!!!! but we cannot afford anything right now- I was planning on waiting until after the wedding to buy it - Now I think I am going to make a fake registry at Macys and include my table and then afterwards, i get money off!!!!! Thanks for the great idea!!!!! WHOOOO HOOOO!

my friend and i laughed for months about something our other friend put on her registry - it was a banana hammock for ripening fruit. i don't know what was funnier - the picture of the bananas 'relaxing' in the hammock or the fact that 'banana hammock' is an excellent slang term for a Speedo!

Banana hammock:

I LOVE that you put this on here. I saw that while I was registering and must have emailed it to all my friends. Even at 27 I'm still 16 at heart

ETA - FH actually put the Fill 'Er Up™ Gas Pump Liquor Dispenser on our registry. I can't imagine what our families are going to think.

We registered for the Fill Er Up Gas Pump Liquor Dispenser and GOT IT!! LOL......

THis is a great post girls! I've actually gotten some good ideas of what to add.

I totally have the C&B Molajete on my list. I can't wait to get it! I also have a hairdryer and a $500 vacuum cleaner. But it's a Dyson. You just have to have a Dyson!!!!

Oh and I did put $14 Cake mix from C&B on there. Sort of as a joke, but I wouldn't mind getting it. LOL

We are the opposite--we put like 3 towels on our registry and about 10 other things and they are all barware/glasses because we got tired. We look like we do not shower much, sleep on a bed without sheets, don't cook and are lushes!
