Furniture shopping

Furniture shopping

Did anyone else notice that most furniture made these days is just veneer covered - not the real stuff
Anyone have a full bedroom set that they fell in love with? (that doesn't cost a fortune!)

this is mine:

but I have a sleighbed and the mirror is square.

it wasnt super expensive, but it wasnt cheap either.

i got it at Penn Furniture on 110 - it was on sale and we talked the guy down a little more.

Re: Furniture shopping

After seeing so many of those 'Bob's' commercials on TV, we decided to look them up online and visit their closest store. I believe they have a new store that opened in Paramus (they have no stores in NY).

They have a pretty big selection, depending on your taste. And we are happy with the furniture we purchased there: living room and dining room sets. Plus, we noticed that they carry alot of sets that other retailers carry in their showrooms for double the price.

If you have time, check them out. You may find something...

I went to Country Furniture in Mt. Sinai/Rocky Point and bought a beautiful oak wood bedroom set for very little. Queen bed frame w/head board, full male dresses, full female dresser with mirror, matching bed stands for under $3k.

A picture of my partial bedroom furniture is in my wedding proofs (prof. and non-prof.) from the morning.

This is ours...but it looks nicer in person...its pretty dark but in a more elegant kind of way than it looks in the pics...we got it in VA so I know it doesn't help you but I just realized that the set is called 'long Island' and it made me smile so I wanted to post it

Believe it or not, we also just had some friends funish their entire house from costco and got some really nice stuff...from a great bedroom set to leather couches...I never would have thought of it but its so worth looking at..HTH

Your set is very nice...also a style I like. My father was saying over the summer we should have taken a drive down to VA to look at/get furniture. Oh well.
Costco - I guess I can see that - I've been there a couple of times when I was in California visiting family.

Whatever you do don't shop at Levitz!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I bought $6,000 worth of furniture and dealing with them has been a nightmare! I ordered and paid for it in May and it was supposed to be delivered the next week. My order was finally fully delivered in September. I've missed 7 days of work due to their errors. All the furniture was damaged in delivery and now I've been waiting for months to have them fix it. AHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!

STAY AWAY FROM LEVITZ!!!

I agree about Levitz that place is a nightmare.
Did you try Ethan Allen? Their furniture is made of good quality wood. A lot of the furniture today is pressed saw dust and last about 3 years.

They have continuous sales all the time, and it's one of their more pupular sets, but they have a lot of different wooden pieces of furntiure and also sell dining room, kitchen, family room, etc furniture.

They deliver and will remove anything old from existing home if needed! They're on time and deliver rain or shine!

ETA: They're located on 25A at the Mt SInai/Rocky Point border.

My sister just got a great sofa from Raymore & Flannagan's. It is beautiful and it was nicely priced, try going there?

Re: Furniture shopping

My furniture came Thursday. Its really beautiful. We went to Bob's Discount Furniture in Woodbridge and got our bed room and living room set. All together it came to a little over 3K. Now we're hunting for a dining set. Our apartment is small, so we're not looking into buy a formal dining set. I didn't see anything in IKEA and a lot of the chairs I'm noticing have cushion seats that FH doesn't want

Where are they (R&F) located, I have seen some adds for stuff I like there....

Bob's furniture I've thought about making the trip to, but it's a matter of finding the time! How long of a drive is it from Nassau/Suffolk line?

It's all so intimidating because it's SO very much money!
