future brides please DON'T

ever ever ever for any reason consider trying to save money by going with an 'affordable' photographer - you do not ever want to feel the way I do right now. Mine was HORRIBLE, he was rude, condescending, careless, selfish, and SLOW. I thought maybe, when I got back my proofs it would have been worth it, but obviously not. An amateur could have taken better shots. He lied to me up and down about how he would use 'all sorts of special filters' - I have TWO pics out of all my proofs that have some dumb looking effect, and that's it. I was PROMISED by the person I signed my contract with that there would be a certain number of black and white rolls of film taken. NO, this is not on my contract, I have no idea why. I guess I was just excited to be booking my first vendor? My DH remembers the entire conversation as well. And I do know that some colors can be turned into black and white, but this is not what I wanted, I wanted half black and white photos. I have no classic pic of my purse and boquet, we have no shot of our hands together showing our rings, I only have - I could go on. I am heartbroken. I worked so hard to make every little thing right for my wedding, I even suggested my photog. on here because they were less expensive than most (3900 for photo and video). I would have gladly spent double that to have worthwile photos and to not feel like this right now. So, please please take my advice and skimp on the cake, or pass on the filet or something, but don't skimp on the photographer. Also, do not go to EAB plaza, at least in the fall, no matter how bad the weather is - unless you want plastic turkeys and scarecrows in your pictures.

I have no complaints about the video at this point, the guy was very nice and I haven't seen any of it - EXCEPT that you are not allowed to view footage and decide what you want to edit out??? Another piece of advice, don't ever book anything in a hurry without coming on here or asking people what questions to ask. Had I known I couldn't view my raw footage, I never would have booked.

I am so sorry to hear that.
I researched my vendors up & down before booking them and I know I did a great job because I had all my vendors booked before i found this site , except for Wild Rose Video who I found through the ladies on this board & all the vendors I booked before LIWeddings.com, were the same vendors everyone uses on here.

And I agree with you about EAB Plaza. I was there Thursday night to visit my attorney who's office is in that building & I saw the plastic turkey in the lobby. Otherwise the building is beautiful.

Again I am sorry, I hope your wedding otherwise was beautiful.

I just wanted to say that I booked Duval for my 2003 wedding and am still very happy with my choice. They are NOT an 'affordable' photographer, the way you stated it. They have MANY different packages some at your price and others alot higher. Our package is$6000 and includes everything, including black and whites as well as pics that can be made half and half. EVERYTHING is written very clearly in our contract, we made sure of that! We have TWO friends who used them last year and even met a couple picking up proofs, who shared some of the pics with us! They had nothing but good things to say about there day! I'm sorry to here that you had such a horrible experience with Roy (who were not using) but I think maybe it was just bad luck and seeing and hearing first hand from other brides about there great experiences with Duval, I would highly recommend them!!

yabbobay - the pic in the profile was taken with a disposable table camera!! I am so glad we had those. As for the above post, I didn't mean any offense. You're a smarter girl than me for making sure everything was written down, funny thing is, as I was saying that I wanted to make sure we'd have black and whites, and he was saying, sure, no problem, he was writing. I thought he was putting it down on the contract. BUT, that is all my fault for not double checking. I suppose I should clarify, other than the contract problem - my problem is not with the company - just believe me do not have Roy do your wedding you will be sorry. I'm sure your wedding pictures will come out great because you were more careful with your choice of photographer and because you were careful with your contract. Again, no offense intended.

JPSGIRL-I read your post last night, but didn't know what to say. I actually dreamed about it. I feel so bad for you, I loved hearing about all of your details & your choice of location-I hope you can get some money back, not that it will make it better. Did you have throw aways on your tables?
Ask all of your friends & family for their negatives from their cameras, sometimes those pics can be great. Let us know how it turns out-Good Luck.

A friend of mine also decided to not spend a lot of $ on photos, she was disappointed in the photographer that day and she just got her proofs back and is very upset!! It really wasn't what she wanted.
Photos are how you'll remember your day - if there's one area not to be stingy on, it's the photography!

I just wanted to say I'm really sorry about your experience. Hopefully out of your proofs you will still be able to make a fantastic album filled with beautiful pics! I'm sure you will!!
