Fututre In laws

Fh sister wrote me a very hurtful, disrepectful and lengthy letter, which ultimately put asunder our relationship and almost destroyed my relationship with fh. Some years have passed and now she had a change of heart. she wants us to be friends or 'family' as she puts it. I Don't forget and I don't let go too easily. I asked fh if she wants her kids to walk in the wedding and she agreed. I did it because all of the kids in my family will be walking and I wanted him to have the same experience. She has invited me to her home for a big family dinner. My sister and fh thinks I should go because like she said we are family. She said our wedding and for kids will forever tie us together. I don't know what to do. As a Christian I want to be Christ like but I don't want to open old wound, I worked so hard at letting it and her go. I don't want to go back. Fh is making me feel so bad about not going.
There are too sides to every story but nothing I did deserved what she wrote to me in that letter.
Should I go or should I pass.

As hard as it is, I'd say go. Even if it's for a short time...at least make an appearance. Don't do it for her, do it for your FH. It's his sister. You don't want him to miss out on these times with his family and be resentful later on. Be the bigger person. If you don't go I feel it would make you look kinda bad in a way. Not that you are! Have a glass of wine before you go, you'll feel a lot better. Lol

I understand your pain and the wound is still fresh, but it takes more effort to hold a grudge than to let it go. You will not forget what she may have said to you, however you can forgive her and move forward. you guys don't have to be best friends but maybe you can take baby steps to try and start a relationship with her again. At the end of the day you will all e family.

I know all about wanting to fight the fight. Especially when you're hurt but I think this is the opportunity to be the bigger person. Being Christian doesn't just mean forgetting. No one can ever really forget. You don't even have to forgive right this second but to find a middle ground for the sake of your own inner peace may be necessary. Find it within you to take a step that is comfortable for you. Good luck.
