FYI if you haven't booked RH yet or if you're looking into Lessings
Original post by LoveyDovey
just an FYI for girls who are still looking
one of the people we met with today, mentioned that all the Lessing's venues are under special pricing- they are currently giving out their pricing from 1998 and it's only valid until the end of the January
you dont have to book by January but if you meet with someone before the end of January, they will honor the prices they gave you
it's a great deal of savings if anyone out there is looking at Lessing's Venues...and figured it was a good tip to pass along!
we saw bourne mansion today and three village inn
I'm totally in love with the Bourne!!!

what is in the left and right of the 'T'
tables?
and where is the dancefloor?
on the site it looks like the floor is middle of the T...but in some pics it looks like its at the top of the T
if that makes sense??
I guess Ill see it this weekend!
The less people you have, the less you have to put tables into the left and right of the T. We're planning on having 120-130, so we're not really using the T too much. Below is how we're doing it (Like my 30 second drawing? LOL). Or you can put all the tables on the bottom of the T and have the dance floor in the top part.
wow, you are great!!!
thank you so much for that...it doesn't look that bad to me!

There is definitely room for 175 but it will make it very cramped and minimal dancing room. But. If you're doing a summer wedding you can bank on it being nice out and you can easily open the patio doors (on the right side of the room) and let it flow into the stone patio for dancing. We're really hoping we can do this even though we (estimate) will only have about 130. We're putting all our tables in the lower part of the T and using the top part of the T for dancing and putting the DJ in one of the corners. There's a LI Bride on here who had her tables set up like that. Her and one other bride were the only brides I found that had it set up like that. IF you had a smaller guests list you can even do long rectangular tables on either side of the bottom T. I saw a picture of this and LOVED it so much. But we'll likely have too many.
Vanderbilt IS a beautiful venue. We fell in love in particular with the back lawn right off the bay. It's a beautiful spot for a ceremony.
FYI for anyone who is thinking they might be able to get Dowling to go down on their site fee for Vanderbilt. NOT possible at all. Trust me. I've asked. They screwed up something and they were still unwilling to go lower on their site fee.
Anyone done their tasting yet?

DH and I just got married at the Vanderbilt in October....we paid $99 pp and she didnt go lower than that nor did she offer anything extra. Good for you ladies that had that offered to!! I wish she did when I booked!
We had tables in the 'T' part of the room but I wish we did it differently now that Ive seen other photos of peoples weddings there. But nontheless, our day and set-up was amazing! so either way you do it, youll be fine. The dance floor was in the center of the room. Speak to Jen or whomever you are working with.....they can recommend a couple ways you can have the room set. In all honesty, DH and I had 15 tables and thats really the most I feel you can fit in the space. But 2 tables were able to fit 12 people rather than 10 =)
YOu can look in my album to see if you can see my layout ok.....FM me if any of you girls have questions about the Vanderbilt!! Its AMAZING!!! and you wont regret one bit of it!! People RAVE about the location....saying theyve never seen a prettier RH/wedding and the Food is spectacular!! Lessings does a great job....all the mansions Ive heard are amazing!
Good luck!!

AWWW Lovey! That was great to hear! Thank you so much!!!
No, I never saw the Bourne. I went to only one other place before seeing the Vanderbilt....Vinyard Caterers. The minute I walked into the Vanderbilt, DH and I wanted to look no where else! We fell in LOVE! Literally took our breath away....I know cheesyyyyyy!!! haha! but true!
I have seen many pics of the Bourne and its just as gorgeous! Lessings does an amazing job with everything!
Who are you meeting with on Saturday?
The ONLY issue I had the evening of my wedding was that it was hot in the room....the AC wasnt working so well and some were complaining. Mostly the ones NOT dancing because I think the ones dancing just figured they were hot because they were dancing...you get what Im saying? But all in all, not too many complaints....they said the AC was on so it just may have been that I had too many people in the space.
Oh and people actually commented to me that they actually liked that the space was smaller than other RH's.....they liked the fact that everyone was close together and interacted more which I found very interesting. Nobody seemed to be bothered that the dance floor was much narrower than normal. Everyone danced!
Let me know how it goes this weekend and let me know if you want any more info!! I love to help! Have fun and cant wait to hear what decision you make!!!
