I saw this on a show on one of the home networks this weekend and figured I would pass it on.
They had to remove wallpaper from an entire bathroom. They put fabric softener in water, scored the wallpaper and rubbed it with a sponge on the wallpaper. The paper peeled right off. The host of the show and the homeowners were floored at how easily the wallpaper came off
wallpaper removal = scoring wallpaper, rubbing with combo of water and fabric softener, peeling off

Re: FYI on wallpaper removal
Only thing you have to keep in mind is what is under the wallpaper. Plaster walls or sheet rock. If they had plaster walls the paper would come down easier anyway. It is the sheet rock that creates the problem. The wall paper tends to peel the sheet rock with it!!!
Thank God our new house has plaster walls!!!
Regardless taking down wallpaper is the pits. I think it should be illegal!

Jen...I'm on the flip side of your repsonse...we have the sheetrock walls that were not primed before the wallpaper in our bathroom was put up. So when I tried to take down our hideous wallpaper, down came half the sheetrock too! What a night mare! So we primed and painted over that mess! Wallpaper should be made illegal! Or at least when you buy a home they should allow a wallpaper credit if you have to move into a house formerly owned by someone stuck in the 80's!
