If you HAD TO spend $100.- less a month per person... what would you give up?

I would

1. stop having my nails done
2. make my own lunches from home
3. cancel things like netflix or extra movie chanels

well i dont pay for mani's, waxing or any of that now so i wouldnt have to cut back on that since i get it for free.

I say just going out less, not going out to dinner as much or even take out as much.

Definitely cut down on shopping, and just dont buy things you dont really need. Yes its a cute pair of shoes but do you need it right now.

I think eating out is a big one..

But as someone who works in a resturant- i will tell you A LOT of people are already doing this.

I'm sure they are. Restaurants are getting expensive.

good for you Kim

also probably finding a way to cut down on your monthly bills would be helpful. In the summer trying using the AC alot less. Maybe cancelling some cable channels, changing your phone plan.

Kim I am copying you except for 3 I'd say...

3. Drink more often at home and not pay $6,7,8,9,10 whatever for a glass of wine out at a bar lol

i actually gave my 2 weeks because my tips have been less than 1/2 of what they used to be for the same shifts and times.
I see a lot of resturants closing or trying to stay afloat by offering 'packages' or discounts

That would be me too lol.

This would probably save me much more than $100 per month

eating chinese and mcdonalds

i dont get my hair, nails, waxing done - once in awhlie but not on a monthly basis so none of that applies to me.....i dont go shopping unless i absolutely NEED something - so cant cut back there......so probably ordering take out - we order about $30 worth of chinese a week

No going out to dinner

Getting rid of all the perks that make my Time Warner bill sky high

I'd drive around less

Re: GAME- economy related

See I could easily save $50.- a week in starbucks alone... but I refuse!!!
UNLESS it really comes down to it.. that is the last thing I am giving up!

1. Only eat at home - I have no problem with it. FH on the other hand does.

2. Remove the text messaging package from mine and FH's cell phone plan

on those two things we probably spend over 200 a month

Re: GAME- economy related

DH just put together a budget and we are trying to take a close look at our spending. (we spent the last month just doing whatever we normally do so we could then analyze it and figure out if we need to make any changes). However, had a lot of one-time expenses (like $1000 for our flights to NY for thanksgiving , my law school textbooks for the semester, my school parking pass for the year, we paid off DH's school loans, etc)

If we had to cut back $100 a month I think the easiest way for us to do it would be grocery shopping. To be honest, I could probably do it just by going to the store without DH (I'm more likely to buy what we need, he's more likely to add random things we dont need into the cart ) but we usually just go to the store and buy whatever, and never clip coupons.

I'm trying to implement a new plan -- we make a grocery list (ingredients for any new recipes we want to try, look in the fridge/pantry and see what we need, anything we want, etc) and write it down -- and then stick to that list once we're in the store, unless it's something we REALLY need or that is REALLY on sale, but make a huge effort to stick to the list. This week the list wasn't too constraining and I told DH he could put anything he wanted on it, but we managed to stick to the list only and not buy any extras. I really think it will help us
