Gap between ceremony and reception

Hi everyone... anyone have any suggestions what to have the guests do between the ceremony and reception?? ceremony is at 3:30 and reception is at 7... the places are only 5 minutes apart (St Rose and the Riviera) i would rather not have my mom host people at our house because i think she will be stressed enough, and we want to do something not too expensive. any ideas?

Is there a classy bar or rest. with a bar nearby?? Maybe people can go have a drink or 2 before the reception.

Can you show up at the reception any earlier??

Hmmm... Im digging through my brain for ideas but am having some trouble

thanks for the advice. thats what im looking into right now. it was so difficult because so many churches have saturday night mass and the latest ceremony available is at 3:30. how do you think the guest should be informed about a location to go to?

What about seeing if the Riveria can supply some type of pre-cocktail hour. My hall is supplying a pre-cocktail hour (my guests can arrive after church and they will serve coffee, cookies, etc.) a 1/2 before cocktail hour starts.

Yeah I was going to suggest what Lisa suggested. Isn't it one wedding at a time at the Riviera? My reception hall (Floral Terrace) is one wedding at a time and they told me that guests can start arriving early and stay in the garden room. There the guests will be served Champagne and strawberries.

My hall has a piano bar where people can go to up to an hour earlier than the c-tail hr starts. See if your hall can provide something similar. Mine is unlimited bar and fruits & cheeses
