Garder and Bouquet Toss?? With Poll

Garder and Bouquet Toss?? With Poll

I've seen a lot less peole doing the garder toss & putting it on the girls leg who caught the bouquet. I don't mind the bouquet toss, but I wanted to change it & have every female, single or not be able to catch it. I've never been a big fan of the garder thing, I was always embaressed to have some guy put it on my leg. And I don't want the SINGLE girls to feel silly up there catching the bqt.

What do you think of it? Would people would miss it if I didn't do it? What do you think of every female getting a chance to catch the bouquet?

i like every girl being able to go up - a lot of the weddings i've been to lately you end up with like 6 girls up there if you go for just singles - you also have to think about what your guests look like - are there many singles, if so are they older and embarrassed about being single?

but I find that having the bouquet and garter is fun! I'm having it!

I personally don't find the garter toss very appealing. The girls become scared to catch the Bok and I've never been to a wedding where the girl isn't embaressed when the gater is put on her.

My FH family is VERY conservative, his brother and sil didn't even kiss at their ceremony! (and they are Protestant too!). I'm not having it because I don't care for it and like the idea of all girls being able to catch the Bok.

I'll probably give it to the couple who has been married the longest or one of my BM who is getting married a few months after me.

I'm doing the bok toss, but I'm thinking about sAying, instead of the catcher being the next to get married, she'll be the one to get lucky that night. lol okay girls to be honest I had a little wine. So sorry if I sound off.

I'm not all that comfortable with the thought of my FH lifting my dress in front of everyone. So we'll be having the Bouquet toss but no garter. My FH doesn't mind, he wasn't crazy about the idea either.

I am doing an anniversary dance, the woman of the longest married couple gets the BO-K. As for garder i was thinking of having my Groom removing it and having the man of the longest married couple put it on his wife (the BO-K winner)... I know who the couple will be and they are very cute like that so they will eat it up... I want to bring some attention to their awesome marriage which will be almost 62 yrs by time of the wedding!

Well I would tell the girls if they don't feel comfortable about having a garder put on them not to go on the floor for the bok.

I was so against the whole thing 1) because i've heard horror stories about it and 2) because i'd rather keep the party going, but you girls have good variations to make people comfortable! it's weird how that used to be so popular and now not as much

We are not doing either. I have seen some brides ask their florists for a bo-k and gathering all the single girls and pulling one flower out and giving one to each.

I think Im going to do it but not have the people who catch it do anything afterwards.. I still have to figure this out.

The past couple of weddings I have gone to they didnt do it and I wondered why...I did kind of know it didnt happen but I didnt necessarily miss it.
We havent decided if we are going to do it, I dont know if I am so comfortable doing it, though I would like to do something...I was thinking about just throwing the BoK or giving it to the next to get married or longest married...though I can tell you right now my cousin would love to go down in a rumble to get the BoK-she is dying to get married!

We did it. I really didn't want to but everyone talked me into it. It turned out to be a lot of fun after all. I am the first of my friends to get married, so all my single friends enjoyed it.

I know a lot of people love this, but I HATE this custom and always said if I ever got married we weren't doing it. I hated being one of the 'single girls' out on the dance floor and it only got worse after I hit 30 - I started using that as my 'bathroom break' time.

We also had very few singles at the wedding, so we did the anniversary dance instead and it was really nice.

I have also seen people throw the bouquet at the end of the ceremony, when they didn't want to do the garter toss.

Nope! I've never like it plus no one is single at our reception. I always hated how it broke up the flow of a wedding and not to mention how people had to be PULLED out on the floor.

I did not have it either. I am not too fond of this. But I bought my garter for pictures while I was getting dressed.
I actually did the Anniversary Dance instead and gave a bouquet of flowers to the couple that had been married the longest.
Also, many of my guests are already married. I didn't have that many single friends at the reception.

I did because my sister would kill me if she didnt get a chance to catch the bo-k (which she did ) and the guys all have fun goofing around at the garter toss.

we did this: (we only had ONE single person)

all women got up to catch the bo-k. all men got up to catch garter. The guy who caught the garter danced with me, the girl who caught the bo-k danced with DH.

The married folks were so excited to be able to participate! It was a huge HIT and it allowed us to still do something somewhat traditional.

Re: Garder and Bouquet Toss?? With Poll

Thanks ladies. That was my point, I always hated being dragged up there cause I was single, and a a lot of times there was only a few of us up there. I think it's nicer if every woman gets a chance to catch the bqt. And I'm too shy to have my FH take the garter off in front of everyone, and I don't want another girl to get embarrassed to have it put on her, just because she caught the bqt. I'm happy to know that it won't necessarily be missed, if I only do the bqt toss and not the garter thing. Thanks for your advice.
