Re: Gas Prices
Yeah, I understand there is not an infinite supply of gas .. however, it's not like gas prices have been steadily going up over the years. It's basically sky-rocketed over the past few months .. and it is this sky-rocketing of prices that makes me feel that I have a right to complain .. heck, I should have a right to complain no matter what.
Fine, find new resources .. I have no problem with that. And I have no problem with trying to carpool or other ways of trying to do my part .. however .. trying to compare gas prices to milk prices .. to increases in ice cream prices .. to prices 20 years ago .. or even pointing out that gas is a limited resource .. that does nothing for the problem going on RIGHT NOW. Alternatives have been researched for years, and this immediate increase is not because resources are running out ... because otherwise gas prices would have been high for a long time before RIGHT NOW.
As far as the argument about the 80s .. it is my belief that people just did not rely as heavily on their cars then as they do now because life was different. Now, it's basically a necessity for husband and wife to work in order to get by. Life is simply more hectic then it was 20 years ago .. and I was old enough to remember what life was like 20 years ago.
And the arguement questioning gas prices within blocks of eachother .. yes, I do have a problem with that. Because we're not talking about cheap Joe-Shmo gas versus Mobil. We're talking about top gas companies against top gas companies.
Finally .. thanks for trying to help, but there is no road rage here .. just gas rage .. and I'm not taking it out on my driving .. because I know the stations to go to.
It's when everyone lays down that we all get screwed. There are some things that should simply not be accepted as is. And it amazes me how a segment like Shame on You can investigate unfair gas price increases .. but now when people should be snooping around at some of these places .. no one is.
And why is it when the price per barrel goes up .. the price at the pump react quickly .. but when the price per barrel goes down .. the reaction at the pump is not the same. Business is business, and once again, the consumer is the one taken advantage of.
