Gas Rumor

Gas Rumor

There's a rumor going around at my job that places are running out of gas. I was going to fill up during my lunch hour anyway, but has anyone heard about this?

Some of the people at my job are talking about it. Actually, one woman has been talking about it--to anyone that will listen--non-stop since yesterday. Blah blah blah, gas crisis, blah blah blah 1970's, blah blah blah you'll all see.....
I don't believe it'll get that bad, but who knows....
I have to gas up at lunch too, I wish I could have yesterday, but today is payday, so I had to wait....

I don't think so. I have seen 'no regular' signs but MCDO pointed out that's probably because everyone is just buying 87 octane now.

ETA: people are freaking out b/c of these rumors and going to fill up (myself included). so if a station gets 500 customers on a normal day and now they get 1500, that creates a shortage.

i think that's also because the gas stations want the money for the upper levels..i have one station by me that decided he would take cash only. that seems a little coincidental that his credit card machine broke down now.

I hope that after the chaos settles down, the Gov't cracks down on all these price gougers!

I just got back. No need for alarm. There's plenty of gas at ridiculous prices. I just wish I had filled up yesterday

It's not a crisis, I don't think. Compared to the energy crisis in 1973, our prices would have to be around $7-$8 a gallon.

Mostly it's panic, just like there's a rush on bread and milk before a storm.

If it was a real crisis, Daylight Saving Time would be changed again and automakers would stop producing SUVs.

It's troubling though.

What does this have to do with Daylight Savings Time???

The gas station by me too didn't have a working credit card machine today either!!

Gas ran out on the corner of Jericho and 110 today before 630 pm

We arent 'running out of gas' it just too many people filling up all at the same time. The gas is there, just has to get the pumps

My station as example ran out because regular was $2.89, super $3.02 and the special was only a little more. By 5:30 there was no regular left. Still $3.02 is cheap!

around 6:45 coming back home, there was yellow tap and the pumps were closed.

I agree. The gas was supposed to be $3 last year according to all reports. Katrina REALLY through a wrench in the mix. Still its not as bad as 73.

SUVs are an issue. It's insane. Plus we LITERALLY have more cars out there. no one is a one car family anymore.

It's not that big of a deal to me. I just paid $41 to put 3/4 tank of gas in my car, but hey,I have a car with AC so how can i complain. Bus riders are probably laughing at this heh.

I say su*ck it up and shrug your shoulder. We can survive. It's really really really not the end of the world.

All else fails. Go to Jersey for gas!

OH WAIt.. where Shumer and is EVER predictable 'Open the reserves and give gas ONLY to NY'?

I give it a week before he's on the news

8 gallons for what I used to pay to fill my tank- but hey- we have food, shelter, water, electric, A/C and plumbling right- we have it pretty good in my eyes!

I tried to fill up at a BP today and they were out of gas. Why? Because their prices were still 2.99 for premium.

someone at work said that stations were going to stop selling gas after 5pm last night, through the weekend. Well on my way home I see plenty of people at the tanks. So I don't know who made that up.
