Gemologist Survey/Engagement Ring Appraisal

I just called to get insurance on my engagement ring but the woman said the appraisal I had is not valid (the diamond is a family heirloom so FH just had to buy the band. he got the appraisal from the guy who sold him the band. We figured this might not fly.) Anyway, I need the name/info of a disinterested third party who will appraise diamond rings. Can you guys help?

We had my e-ring (which was my grandmother's ring) appraised at Gemport in Northport (actually someone on the boards suggested them).

I got mine appraised by someone in NYC & also Gennaro Jewelers in Bellmore.

I went to Solomon's in Plainview. They charged $75. We were there for 1 1/2 hours. We looked through the loop and we asked all kinds of questions. We actually got an education on diamonds. I brought my GIA report. I am insuring with Jewelers Mutual.

Freedmans in Huntington did a great job on the appraisal, they were very professional and priced less than other places. Good Luck
